revelations. epiphanies. spiritual, religious, and inner-awakenings. for as long as i can remember, even before i started smoking, marijuana has always been, in my mind, the "gateway" drug to deeper understanding. in an era where information is as plentiful and easy to access as pussy in a whorehouse, many of us no longer take the time to go out into the world and have firsthand experiences.

with the advent youtube, google earth, cable tv, and wikipedia, we are so overwhelmed with information that we begin to lose focus on reality and instead become consumed with a false sense of knowing. the ideals of intellectualism have given away to a ken-jennings jeopardy-ization of knowledge. random facts, snapple caps, wiki-isms...people are walking trivial-pursuits, reciting one-liners and spewing out factoids while perpetrating a reality show style of life, where the power of knowledge is replaced by the power of a constant "life-line" (the internet) which now can be accessed from basically all hand held devices.

why hone your sense of direction when you can buy a garmin? why learn new languages when you can just translate everything? why travel when you can watch the travel channel? why protest? why organize? why read? besides eating, breathing, and reproducing, almost everything else can be done in the virtual world. now i am no luddite. i don't believe technology or capitalism or progression is the root of evil, i just believe that some of the great experiences of life have been reformatted into 30 second soundbytes.

life is fast, it is furious, and it is unforgiving. we are born, and we die. these are the constants. if we are lucky we are loved and love back. if we are blessed, we learn, understand, and appreciate. the greatest achievement of life is to be remembered and revered, if only by one person, for something wonderful you have done. i do not believe we are helpless, however. this is one of the biggest lies of Christianity and other world religions. born into sin? must find redemption through the acceptance of one's transgressions? this is nothing more than power politics and primordial control techniques. what people need to understand is that everyone has complete control. you have control of your emotions, over your life, over your decisions, over your reactions. accepting that fact is the first step to self-realization.

how does any of this tie in with marijuana? well it doesn't. but it also does. marijuana gives perspective. the same way it's easier to see a game of chess unfold as a spectator, marijuana helps (me at least) break away from the game of life, and gives me the important role as spectator. like all things, though, it is important to strike a balance. i hate stoners with a passion. stoners spend all of their lives as spectators and on the sidelines watching the pretty world move on by. it is important that we try, even if we fail, to make a positive impact on the globe. nobody can do that while being perpetually stoned. i doubt even the great bob marley smoked 4-5 times a day every day.

i feel as though it is important that we look inward and re-examine what we believe we possess. the most important things we have are our love, understanding, and knowledge. the first one has been commodidized and whore-ified while the second two have been historically neglected.

but the wonderful thing about life is, in the end everything...

Life would not be worth living with out love. Love for another human, objects, nature... I am catholic so i believe God is origin of life, but love is so powerful, so beautiful, so pure...

very anarcho - primitivististic. I agree with getting into your sense and becoming a participant with life, but I disagree with your arguement with technology and mass information. you can be exposed to more experience on the web, and become more rounded with the world.

Welcome to my world! The people "Above" us try to give us a false sense of reality and try to "detour" us, so we don't always spend time on reflecting on our lives and the people around us... I mean we do engage with one other, but not truly, we talk about non-important things with out or little meanings. While reading that I flipped like 5 times between disagreeing completely with what you said and agreeing whole heartedly with it.

I don't agree with your view on the internet, or at least not all of it, to be true. But thats how society simply how society is, society was like that 500 years ago and clearly its like that now. The only difference between today's society and yesteryear's is that today people have access to more information via mass communication. I think this is a good thing because the point is people have access to it, they aren't force feed it. If someone is foolish than no matter what time period they lived at they're going to be a fool.

My point is that there is only a difference in society's comprehension in the short term. If someone wants to say something in a different language than that person will use a translator from a website, however in the long run when they want to speak a different language what would they do? They would of course learn the language. When driving through a town why learn directions when you can mapquest it? But when moving to a new town wouldn't a person rather "hone their sense of directions" than simply buy a garmin to driver around?

I think that the main difference between today's society and society before the industrial age is simply that we are exposed to more of everything, not simply knowledge, but places, people and ideas. In fact we're exposed to so many more things that we don't have time to actually learn and comprehend all of our surroundings unless we're going to be exposed to that person/place/thing for a long time. However when someone has been doing the same thing or in the same place for a while that there most definitely is a sense of understanding and knowledge. After all, who do you think writes the wiki's and snapple caps.

Everyone has something they love, or love to do. Mine is music i love to make music regardless of what kind or on what plaine whether it be guitar, bass, piano, or my computer. In order to do what you love you have to have the knowledge about it and then the understanding. We all are meant to do something greater than the petty things around us. Marijuana is amazing a lot of people don't understand it but you can't go day to day to day so high that you think your a wildabeast. Marijuana opens your eyes that's why it grows on the planet not because we're meant to get blazed out of our brains everyday but to free our minds and spirits. I was like Nuggz born into a christian family where everyone is fooled to believe god will take care of you no matter what. I still like to believe there is a god, and sometimes i think marijuana is meant to get us closer to god, nature, and mother earth. Marijuana has been actively used since the beggining of civilization maybe that's why it has lasted so long because it has freed people over millenias. Man this is an amazing thread and topic.

I use to just play video games a lot and it's like being slowly hypnotized... then I found Marijuana, so I started hanging out with "stoners" and then I slowly got into being a Lil Punk, then I started doing other drugs such as coke which was the dumbest shit because I was addicted to it for a lil while, then I got Crunk all the time and smoked ciggs, then life changing events happened to me and I started to realized stuff, Mary Jane is all I need, I had relied on God when I was 9th grade below, now I'm the total opposite of my past, I would like to believe there is a God but I really think we're here to find ourselves, and everything around us are just silly obsticles. Yes Marijuana grows naturally U could eat a LB of Marijuana and not die, but you drink 1 liter of Alcohol and your dead, u take 2-3 recommened dosage for your Prescripton and your dead... Mary Jane was meant to be here and that's why shes stuck around the WHOLE TIME, don't let others fool ya, BE TRUE TO YOURSELF AND YOU'LL FIND YOURSELF... I KNOW I SURE HAVE! THE TRUTH NEVER CHANGES!!! Don't let your life slowly die...!!!!

i used to play video games as a kid also, until i matured and realized what a waste of time they are. its like you are a robot trying to finish your designated task (finishing the game which was already planned out and programmed). i dont think anyone else sees it like that.

i was also raised christian but now i am agnostic and keep an open mind- thats the problem with todays society. hardly anyone keeps an open mind. sure its ok to have your own beliefs, but most peoples beliefs exist simply because they are inherited. your parents were this religion and pass it on to you and you automatically believe it. yea i believed it at first, but then i realized that i am ME, and im gonna believe what i wish.

open minds can eliminate all of this corruption in the world. not only in the legal aspect (such as marijuana), but for self growth.
