How do non carb hole bongs work?

Hey GC, I want to know how bongs with out a carb hole work. I currently own a bong with a fixed bowl and a carb hole and its a real bitch to ash it. So I want a bong with a slide out bowl and no carb hole. But I want to know how it works, I know that (correct me if I am wrong) a carb hole allows the pressure to come into the chamber and forcing the smoke into your lungs. But how would a slider(?) bong work? With no carb hole. Where does the pressure come in from? If you remove the bowl does the stem allow the pressure to enter the chamber and if so how if the stem is blocked by the water? does the air pressure go past the water? I honestly don't know.

I am getting an eighth of kush and an ounce of regs for my friend. So I would like to get the bong as soon as possible but not without knowing how it works.

I googled it but didn't find anything, I have no internet at home and am doing this thru my blackberrys internet, so yeah its a bitch, well if you can link me to a site or just tell me how it works it'd be great.

I think when you remove the bowl it acts as if you're releasing your thumb from a carb hole, but thats just common sense... and I AM high...

the fresh air comes into the bong from the same tube or 'down stem' as the smoke does. the only difference is that the bowl part is removed, so you get fresh air.

unlike your bong on a slider the part you put your weed in and that part that goes in the water are totally un attached.

I know that they are not attached but if I have my mouth on the mouth piece. And remove the bowl does the fresh air come into the bong and allow the smoke to enter my lungs? Especially if the down stem is under water?

pul out the downstem non carbed bongs are so much better when your high a carb can cause too much spillage if you ask me. and i think non carbed are better to clean cause you can clean piece by piece

I've never used a bong with a carb, probably just a big bubbler at that point.
Instead of moving your thumb/finger from the carb, you pull the bowl/slide/male piece/whatever out of the female piece/diffuser/whatever.
I would imagine it to be the same concept only with a different motion.
If you're worried about the science behind it, you need to smoke a bowl not talk about one.
