encounter with the cops...
hey guys, had an encounter with the cops last night, kinda scary but pretty funny. its amazing what dicks cops can be.

so me and two guys just came from our friends house and were just sittin in his car on the street. the windows were foggy (weather) and we were just about to pull off and leave. a cop drives by us and keeps going. we wait till hes at the end of the block and we causually stroll out. this was at around 2:30 am.

cop pulls us over for having an illegal lisecne plate cover. oops, no biggy. then he continues to say that its not normal that our windows were foggy, despite the weather and EVERYONES windows were foggy.

next thing hes accusing us of either "being gay together" or "smoking something". so he starts giving us a hard time, takes us all out of the car.

the story ends with us all denying being drunk or high, and consenting to a car search ONLY because he made us a deal that can get us out of the lisence plate ticket. we knew we were clean at the time, so we knew wed get off.

anyways, had we have been riding dirty, wut could we have said or done to make sure they didnt car/k9 search us?

If you don't want him to search your car, let it be known. If he doesn't have reasonable cause to search you, you are 100% free to refuse a search.

Be loud and clear that you do not consent to him searching your person or vehicle, repeat it if he persists to make sure he hears it. If he still insists on searching your car without probably cause, get his badge number and file a complaint with your local police department.

If he still doesn't stop, do not resist or argue. Let him do his thing, getting in his way will only make it worse for you. Be kind, respectful, and courteous but don't let him/her trample your constitutional rights. You have a right to feel comfortable and safe as well as have a certain level of privacy.

Yeah, its your right. He can only search the car if he has a warrant or sees the you have pot laying out(or something illegal).
So next time, roll up all the windows and lock the car. The cop cant do anything about it.

Cops do not need reasonable cause to search your car, they will just make something up, and search it anyways.

Wait...Can you even consent to a vehicle search while DENYING a persons search? That made no sense.....and ya, if he wanted to search you, he would have. Its your job to assert your rights, but, if the officer really wanted to use a K9, no denial of search in the world is gonna save you when they sniff and find out youre...."riding dirty"

If I had shit on me I would just stash it good and let him search it.

A cops search area is very limited on a consent search, and on a warranted search they are allowed to search ANYTHING.

So know a cops boundaries in a consented search and find a good stash!

quick question...

if we said no to consent to a police search, would he be able to call in the k9 unit, sniff the outside of the car, and then have probable cause to enter to car without warrant?

or does not consenting to a search also mean no consent to a k9 search?

If you refuse the search,they then have the right & reason to call in the K9 Unit. The K9 Unit will sniff AROUND THE CAR with the doors open so they can sniff the paneling,not actually in it(searching). If the dog indicates on your car,they NOW HAVE Probable Cause to search both you & the vehicle.


Learn your local laws,your rights & the stipulations of refusing a search in your area
