Does Weed Kill Brain Cells?

I know this has probably been asked before, but as the title says, does weed kill brain cells? I know that THC interacts with the THC receptors in your brain, but I just want to know if braincells die when you smoke marijuana. Thank You.

btw i will still smoke i'm just tired people telling me it does, that dont know shit.

That's an often quoted "fact" that the government states, and has been completely, absolutely, 100%, disproven. Weed does not kill brain cells whatsoever. It does however, cause structural changes in the hippocampus with prolonged use. However, these changes are not cell death.

Holding your breath in can potentially kill brain cells, and this is what you're doing when you hold a toke in. So technically it's not the herb, but lack of oxygen to your brain that could kill brain cells.

Hey, maybe I'm just ripped out of my skull..

Thats the right answer, marijuana itself doesnt kill brain cells. Unlike alcohol which creates toxins in the brain which kill cells.
only way they are destroyed is the lack of oxygen. but im not sure as to the extent of it.

what i usually hear from people is that the thc bonds to your brain cells rendering them inactive

No, marijuana doesn't kill brain cells. However, as mentioned above, it does cause structural change to certain parts of the brain. However this change does prove to be beneficial to people as studies show it helps get rid of anxiety and depression problems.
