I am still up in the air with the carbon filter. I have noticed no taste change what so ever when using it. One thing that does bother me is the drag. When I am using my a/c with the carbon filter there is a little bit too much drag, this did improve a lot when I got my other diffuser in the mail. I think people complain about the taste of the carbon burning. If you are a person who pulls a lot of ash through then you might notice a taste change. The hot ash get pulled through and lands on top of the carbon and burns it creating the unpleasing taste. This can be prevented by; not pulling ash through, placing a screen in your bowl or on top of the carbon filter (more drag), or placing the carbon filter after the ash catcher. Also, I found that when clearing my bong I like to pull the bowl and the carbon filter at the same time. I keep the together with a keck clip or I forget to when I am high, haha.
One thing the carbon filter does an amazing job at is keeping my bong clean, no ash gets into the a/c and A LOT less resin buildup in the tube. There is still the debate on whether or not the carbon filter effects potency of the smoke. Does it clean too much? I have yet to find a clear answer on this one. I have not found any changes in my high, but hey who knows! Thanks for the replies!
