Just got caught

I'm in a terrible mood. Myself and a few buddies just got caught by the police in my neighborhood. It could have been much worse, I suppose, but I'm really shook up right now. I got a ticket for "possession of marijuana". Does anyone know if this is going to be on some sort of permanent record? Can I still get a job? Is college out of the question? Any help is appreciated.

tell us the story, im interested in the details. how much did you have? what were you doing and where? My friend got caught smoking within a school zone (an elementary school might i add) and got charged with possession and possession of drugs in a school zone and he's going to a good college, so dont worry about that.

he was put on probation, he can still get jobs, think of how many people get caught with that shit all the time...you're straight

I wouldn't be too worried about it. You're actually pretty lucky the cops just gave you a ticket and didn't bring you to jail. As long as you only got Posession and not Poss w/ intent to distribute you should be fine. They will probably just fine you $250 and like 30 hours by community service.

Alright so there's this park by my house right? My friends & I usually light up in the car at the park. So we're doing our thing & the cop drives past us all slowly & looking straight at us as he passes. We literally all dropped everything. Bud, keif, bong, everything was on the floor. We start driving away & they turn around & follow us. We try to act like nothing's up & then the sirens turned on. I have never been so scared in my life. We pull over & they tell us they pulled us over because we didn't use our blinker at the turn. Anyway, we spent what seemed like an hour in the back of the cruiser while they took our information & now I have to go to court in a few months. I don't know ow I should show my mom the ticket. Any help?

Sounds like you live in a decriminalized state like me which is good! That ticket won't show up on your permanent record. Its considered a minor traffic violation.

Everything depends on what state you live in. But worst case scenario I'd say is you pay out the ass for fines and probation and get probation for a year. Unless you have some unruly dickface as a judge.

And when you say ticket is it really a ticket or is it a summons to appear for a court date? If it's just a ticket with a fine be happy because you are fortunate.

edit: Ya you're fine dude just pay the ticket and go get a medical card already.

It's a summons to appear in court. They called it a ticket. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Is this bad?

Here you get a $100 for you're first three offenses. Theres no probation or anything, Im pretty sure California is the same, I could be wrong though.

I had less than an ounce so apparently I'll be paying $100.00 & no incarceration time. That's a relief. Still no idea what to do bout the parent issue.

You don't need to worry. I live in Idaho, and here the laws are much strickter. And a few of my friends got tickets for possession of substance and paraphernalia. The each got about a 400$ fine, no jail, no probation.
So, I wouldn't tell you mom if you can just pay off the fine, but if you have probation then I would
