smoking and usage

I've always smoked out of a freinds piece, or a homemade bong or some shitty pipe, but I'm finally going to get my own piece. Do you guys recommend that i get a nice glass piece, with a deep bowl, (my friend had one until he broke it, and it hit really nice) or a metal or wood pipe with screens or something along those lines. I want to keep it small so no bongs or anything. I just want to hear what you guys recommend.

id go w/ glass over metal anyday i have a glass spoon and i love it..
or if you extra money go w/ a small bubbler that can fit in your pocket

I have a little minibong that's got a beaker, a downstem from the top that's inside of a little cork where the bowl is at too, plus you can take the cork with the bowl, stem and sucking tube add a coffee straw to the stem and stick it in a bottle of water for better filtration / bigger hits.
