They broke my piece...

Grasscity, I need some advice on what to do in this situation of mine.
I loaned my 65 dollar pipe to a friend. It had 2 magnifiers, was hand blown, very deep bowl, it was a really nice pipe. Sorry I don't have any pics of it btw.
Anyway, while in possession of my friend, someone else (I don't even know how) took the pipe home with them. Then it ended up at someone elses house, but at that house it was broken. Seeing as that was my only piece, and I'm quite pissed that it got broken (it was a birthday present too), what should I do? Should I pursue my friend for the full $65 or should I go after the fools who broke it? Or should I make my friend give me the $65 and then let him deal with the situation?

tell your friend you want $65 and make it his responsibility to get the money from whoever broke it

I would pursue my friend for the money. You loaned it to HIM, and it was he who didn't keep it safe in his posession. Your friend should go after whoever broke it, but the friend should at least pay you in the mean time. It was his fault.

Yeah, he lent it out, unless you told him the whole fucking world could borrow your pipe, it's his job to get the money, wether he pays or gets it from them.

it was your friend's responsibility to return the pipe back to you in the condition it was borrowed. but seeing how it landed 2 houses away and broken, i'd go after my friend for the money. you let your friend borrow it, so why the hell did it end up somewhere else? i would be pissed.

yea...ummm i have a confession to make
i was the one who lost possession of the piece.
i don't have the money and i can't get that kind of money cuz i don't have a job
and i know, that either way, i have to come up with the money.

i have 3 possible ways in mind...

1st option would be to talk to the friend which i let hold on to the piece...i was being really stupid that day. he has a job, and i just have to talk to him 1 on 1 without anyone around about the subject, i feel that is best. as far as he is concerned, that piece was mine, and he owes me.

2nd option, pussy option, either save money i get from my parents, or get a job and pay it off like that. however, trying to save money my dad gives me is sorta fucking hard, cuz i need to buy food (that is if i'm not buying bud, and i do have the self-control).

3rd option, this one is shady, and it consists of me stealing from my mom's "emergency stash". first of all, my mom is a fucking asshole, i was on good terms with her (when i'm high i can just chemically connect with her and we have no problems) but then the next morning she blew it, was acting like a complete lunatic, anyway enough of her, basically, im saying that stealing from her is partially justified.

finally i would like to say to my friend that i am sorry that i have not delt with this issue in a prompt manner, im sorta waiting for the right time n shit to ask my friend cuz he just moved into a new apt. (he owns it and he's 18 and about to be a senior), and i was previously banned from their hang out cuz my mom is a narc and called the police, so now that its a new spot (in the same apt complex xD) i am welcome as long as i am oblivious to my mom.

so i've only been there yesterday, first day they moved, so the next time i'm over there i have no choice but to bring up the issue at hand...but if worst comes to worst and i can't rely on "friends" then i'll just have to come up with it in one of the possible ways.

3rd option being really quick...
btw i am in no interest to repair relations with my mother as she always finds ways to be a dick, so fuck her.

^^ um..maybe you shouldnt be smoking weed or borrowing pipes that you have no way paying back in case of an accident.

^^ would def. not do this and stealing from your parents is rarely/never justified

^^ I don't want to judge here, but as you said you 1) gave a friends pipe to another person which should have never been done 2) have little/no ways to raise a massive $65/dont have a job and 3) were contemplating stealing from your mother. You may have not liked some of the decisions your mom has made, but from your first post here you have not been the best decision maker either. I dont want to sound like im preaching.... but maybe thats what you need? =\
