It's just a colloquial way of referring to a ground glass joint. A glass stem/slide combo that is not ground glass is still glass touching glass, just not as efficient.

Everyone can learn a few technical terms. You say 'carbeurator' and not 'that little hole thingie on the side', right?

Dude, where'd you get that first bubbler? I've been wanting one just like that but haven't found one anywhere. Frosted, glass-on-glass slider, ashcatcher... it's perfect.

as long as the downstem sizes are they same and you take the ash catcher out when your not holding it it should be fine
