How do you know when weed is no longer good to smoke?

I bought a half eight about a week ago and i keep it in a pill bottle. I don't smoke very often, so I'm expecting it to last me for another week or so. Right now, its pretty dry.

If it's schwag it might not last too long. The one true way to tell other than it looking like it has mold is just to smoke it. If it doesn't get you high then it's bad. try keepin it in a canning jar. Those keep it fresh longer.

youll be fine you can smoke bud that is years old as long as it is stored properly and doenst have mold or fungus on it

Don't worry about it man. Keep it in a cool, dry place and you could smoke it a year from now. Just as long as there's no mold growing on it, smoke that shit up!

It's probably fine, if it has any mold on it then it's bad...but you said it was dry so there's probably no mold. If you want to moisten it up a bit I would recommend using a small piece of a citrus peel. Just put the peel in the container for a couple of hours, the bud absorbs the moisture from the peel. It adds a nice fruity smell to the bud as well. I've only used this method a couple of times, and I guess it can make the buds moldy if you leave it in too long...it's never happened to me though, it's only made it better for me.

my friend has had this little zip lock bag hidden behind his tv for over a year now and we smoke a little of it from time to time and it still gets us high. We joke about it being like a fine wine, haha. But seriously, time is not an issue if you store it in a dry and cool place.

if you have to ask how long weed is good for, you probably are holding on to it for a little to long haha.... i'm j/k hold onto it as long as you want, just keep it stored properly and dont let mold form else you can get sick, or worse

Paraphrase:
How fresh is your weed when you get it?
How well sealed do you keep your weed.
If properly sealed:
Freezer: 1-3 years
Jar: 2-4 months, weed will usually dry out in 3 weeks, but can be re moistened?
Dirty little bag: The quality changes instantly, crushed etc, will still prolly get you high though for a couple of weeks.

Bottom line. Mold, not time, is the only thing that will kill your weed. The better your treat your weed the more likely it will not only taste better, but get you higher and be less likely to mold.




Hm.... Seen as no one has really given him an answer... just told it its gets moldy (organic, duh)

In a freezer it can last just over a year, sometimes more, but really, why is it cold for that long, move your product already ehy?.

If you just have it on your bedroom self out, facing all those bitter particles and grossities, it's going to die a lot faster than in a pill container. Personally I use a peanut butter jar for my large stash, and pull out personals in 3 different pill jars (diff sizes) so I can keep my main jar sealed as often as possible. Ever time you open the jar essentially the plant will die a bit more. The air in the container that had become stagnent, for once a good thing, is mixed with fresh moist air. Moisture = mold.

Herein lies your answer. Who cured your weed, and did they know what they were doing. PLUS, how fresh is it when you recieve it. Sometimes it can already be beyond hope.

I find anything in pill jars after 3 weeks the quality of the weed willl change. I haven't personally added a peel for moisture, but I liek the idea. Its definitely a dry buring feeling that turns me off of older weed. But if you get the weed wet yourself, and store it liek you should, in a sealed environment, its not going to fully cure and it will thus mold a million times faster.
