All right guys, once again it's time for some activism and activity and ... all that.

Assembly Bill 2279 would declare it "unlawful for an employer to discriminate against" persons who use medical cannabis, has been approved by the Assembly Committee on Judiciary and the Assembly Committee on Labor & Employment and will now be heading to an Assembly floor vote.

This could be a huge thing for the movement. Proving that responsible medical use has NO impact on job performance.

Get out there [bong hit link], contact your local assembleyperson, and tell them you want their support.

On that page, throw in your ZIP Code at the bottom, and E-Mail or write the letter to the assemblyperson who represents you. Call their office, tell friends to contact them.

This is smart, reasonable legislation, don't let it fall through because it doesn't get enough support!

You can get equally messed up, and leave yourself just as much (or more) of a mess on alcohol as you can on marijuana, and if the workplace doesn't discriminate one, it shouldn't do the other either. It's just wrong!

This is highly inferior to HR 5843 and HR 5842, which would both make industrial, medicinal, and recreational cannabis use legal, therefore, removing Federal penalties for marijuana possession.

True, but if they fall through this could still be beneficial.

If this law passes, then I can get my medical card FINALLY. All the jobs I am applying for are drug testing, and while I can cheat the first test, those random tests might fuck me over (but what if you just said you already went, and cant go now...?) I have legit reasons for a card, so it'd be nice to have.

I don't' agree with this proposed bill assuming it would take away the rights of private business owners and their right to hire/fire whoever they want too.
