"re-breathing"

Hi!,

I use a technique for smoking/vaping which I call "re-breathing". You take your hit as usual, hold in your lungs for a bit, and then when you are exhaling and expelling the smoke/vapor from your lungs...you stop about 1/2 way through the exhale (so at this point you still have 1/2 a hit in your lungs). Then you just inhale till your lungs are full again. Now you have your lungs full of diluted vapor...and you can just exhale completely when you're ready. By doing this you increase the amount of time your lungs (with all their incredible surface area!) are in contact with THC-laden smoke/vapor. You end up wringing every last bit of potency from the dank weed!

It definitely helps you get maximum buzz from minimum herb!

your lungs absorb all the thc in a few seconds, any extra buzz you're getting is from a lack of O2

yeh im pretty sure you get around 95% of the thc if you hold it for 4-5 seconds

hows that different from the bubble smoke trick?

might as well try to zero your hits. deprive yourself of oxygen that way.

Yea i actually started doing that sometimes, it seems like its not really hurting me at all, so i just go with it.
Its good for bigger hits, like i know that some people swallow smoke(Horrible idea, DONT do it) to try and get bigger hits down, and i found that this method also works but doesnt make you feel sick or anything.
Plus, its not liek your holding it in until you exhale no smoke, you just get the maximum benefit.
I dont do this with all my hits tho, only a couple of them usually, or it helps if im smoking a small bowl and i wanna get the most out of it(i know that sounds totally noobish).

you may be correct about the absorption rate with THC...but i'm just wondering where you saw the data for this?...i'd like to check it out. I'm assuming it was a medical study and i'd be interested in perusing the data for myself.

centralsmoke brings up a good point re: THC absorption rates...

can anyone point me to conclusive evidence on this topic?

This is what I was going to say. Anything you experience after the initial hit and exhale will just be a shortness of breath. You'd probably still get dizzy if you just did this alone.
