Pictures of smoking on Myspace/Facebook?

Hey, I was just wondering if photos of yourself smoking was incriminating? Even if its not, can it be a reason a potential employer will turn you down for a job?

I ask because I'm on the verge of getting a new job and I know for a fact the manager knows about/uses Facebook and there's a pretty blatent photo of me smoking.

Seriously, it's not even worth the hassle of wondering whether it may or may not get you into trouble. Do you really want to risk getting turned down because of a picture that you think is cool?

last year when i was a senior a bunch of kids got in trouble for posting pictures of them drinkin at house parties and shit. i dunno why the school got involved, but ya probably shouldn't have em just to err on the side of caution ya know?

idk, i wouldnt worry about it. on my ffacebook theres plenty of notes and things that would indicate im a substance user. i know a chick who normally is really uptight and concerned with how other people think about her and shes got a pic of herself smokin a fatty j.

but even if those pics are viewed, whos to say ur smokin herb?

i guess it all depends on how conscious u are about what other people think of you.

well...nobody can arrest you for it, its not illegal to have pics. but if your future employer does see that he/she will probly get the wrong idea of you and turn you down from a job, which would suck. so yea...take it down just to be on the safe side. there was actually an article about this somewhere in some magazine....a lot of employers are checking facebook/myspace now since its so popular (i think it was in readers digest I read at the doctors office? i dunno, one of those magazines)

Yeah it's incriminating make sure you untag yourself. Amy Winehouse just got into some shit for smoking crack on video and the cops raided her place under suspicion... now granted it was crack the point is any evidence showing you doing something illegal is asking for trouble.

im wondering. does it show you smoking out of a bong? or peace, or blunt/joint? cause if its just the smoke, you could say it is cigarette or cigar smoke.

you just have to have a recreatinal email for myspace and more professional one for facebook
myspace i have pics of me smoking cigs (no opertunity to smoke bud and get pictures yet), but facebook it's so easy to get you're searched so i just take down anything even close to bad

On Facebook it is very simple to change if employers can search for you let alone view images of yourself. You can't even find me on there if you knew my name, school, AIM, all that stuff. Take advantage of privacy settings.

Yeah, take it down. Also, if I were you, I'd go into the privacy options and change it so that only your friends can see photos of you. Then you don't have to worry about employers being able to see some recently tagged photo of you that you have yet to see and take down. That's what I did.

Actually that is completely false, employers use a program that facebook and myspace created for this very purpose. If you believe they are limited because of privacy settings you would be wrong, read facebook's TOS and AUP you will clearly see that there is no garauntee that the privacy settings cant fail. I am not trying to be a dick I just want people to realize there are always around things thats just the way our world is, we make rules then find ways to go around them
