hey wondering, how do u make the hole in the bottle airtight?

my problem is that the hole where i stick the stem in is nvr airtight...

if its a plastic bottle then melt the plastic a bit until a hole starts to form then shove the stem in quickly.. and if it doesn't seal use epoxy or silicon.. silicon is the best
