Smoking pot continually a weird experience...should I give it up?
So say I've smoked about three times. Twice from a bong, once from a bowl. And it's weird, because the experience I have smoking pot is totally different from how it is portrayed in entertainment/what others describe. People brush pot off as being so harmless and fun, so I was really surprised when I freaked the first time I smoked it.
I can tell when it hits me, because first I get a sense of everything "flipping" (ex. if a chair was on the right side of the room, I suddenly feel like it's on the left). At that point it's like my existence splits in two, and now I'm in the "high world" instead of the "real world." Everything feels so dream-like, to the point where I constantly question if I am hallucinating (even though I'm not). I feel like I'm in a story, and every event is a "scene" - a "choose your own adventure" specifically, where doing or saying the wrong thing could end up being disastrous. I begin to mishear and misinterpret things people say, thinking they are all talking and laughing about how weird I am when I'm high. Then I start to question their motives for doing and saying all kinds of things. And THEN I start to question their motives for doing and saying things in the "real world," too, and I start to wonder if it's the real world that is a dream and the high world that is real... The first time, it was all too much to handle and apparently I started acting crazy, talking about the "story" and the "characters" and asking people what everything meant, if everything was a metaphor for something...and how I couldn't trust that myself or anyone was real. My heart was beating so fast, my friends thought I was going to have a heart attack or something. I didn't want to go anywhere, because I was afraid I would do the wrong thing, or that the end of the story would be bad, or that maybe I was hallucinating everything and just wandering in a field somewhere about to walk off the edge of a cliff. The second and third times I knew what to expect, so I stayed calm, took deep breaths, cuddled up to someone I trusted, and waited it out. My friends noticed my heart beating abnormally fast the second time again, but not the third. Does THC just have a weird effect on me? Does it have a similar effect on anyone else? Did this story seem totally wack? I did it so many times because I thought it must have been the pot that was strange, maybe laced with something, or, I don't know...but now I think I am probably going to give up on it if this is what it's like to get high...It's too bad because I hear such good things about it! Why does no one ever tell the other side of the story? |

well, i remember the first time i smoked a lot of weed. my best friend and i smoked a 2g blunt of AK47 (dont insult me if anyone thinks thats a pussy amount or anything). but i was just laying there thinking to myself, i really dont want to be high right now. i got a really intense body high, feeling like i didnt have control over my body, and i could still think straight, but it was scary cause in my mind, i knew i was fucked up, but there was nothing to get rid of the feeling. but now since ive been smoking more, i've started to get more of a different kind of high. im still smoking the same stuff, well pretty close to it, but my body reacts differently to it now. since i've been smoking an 1/8th every week for the past month, month and a half, my body has started to react to it differently, and the experience is much better than the first few times i did it. hope this helps.

when you first start smoking weed. about 99% of people who start go through the paranoia stage FIRST. thats what happend to me. i said i would never smoke but when you stop getting paranoid (aside from police troubles and sketch) its actually really fun. give it a few more trys.

Yes, thc does have a rather odd effect on your brain...its called being "high" and its what you know that thing called 'weed' well its a crazy thing that you pay for to get this feeling.
Well my advice to you is to smoke a cig if possible...it will mellow you out. Stop freaking out just chill dont take things so seriously. and don Not take lsd...if this is what you get from weed youd be trippin the fuck out if you got some acid hahahah |

your call
Its not that THC has a "weird" effect on your body, theres really only two options. Your the kind of person who really gets paranoid when they smoke, i mean a shitload not just omg that guy looked like a cop, or omg everybody knows we are stoned. It sounds like your honestly fucking scared/paranoid out of your mind, some people are like that and the fact that you have no tolerance only makes it worse.
OR thats just it, you have no tolerance whatsoever, and experiencing a new thing like getting high, is just too much for you to handle. Either way, you should at least try only smoking one bowl. Sounds like thats enough to get you "high". After that see how you feel, if your still uneasy, nervous, paranoid, etc. its not for you, if not, try smoking some more and see where it goes. |

This happens to almost everyone. when you get too high and you arent ready you can freak out. happened to my friend last night for his first time smoking a blunt, and its happened to me before. just smoke a lil less and try to enjoy it

It sounds like you just need to relax and do something to take your mind off of... your mind.
Sometimes when I smoke in an uncomfortable situation (like with too many people around or too much going on), my attention just wanders away from the environment and I enter a state of irrational paranoia. People can be talking about anything, but I'll be lost in thought, usually thinking negative or scary shit like what you described. All you need is to do something that will take your mind away from these paranoid thoughts and let you enjoy the high... Here's what I recommend. Try smoking with only one or two good friends in a very relaxed environment. Maybe drive around in the country away from the police one evening listening to some chill music (I'd suggest Dark Side of the Moon), or just hang out at home watching tv or playing some video games. This way, you'll have some basic visual or auditory stimulus to captivate you and show you what smoking weed is really all about. If that doesn't work, then you may in fact be too sensitive to cannabis to enjoy it. This may be biological or entirely mental. Perhaps the chemicals make your heart race and brain panic, or maybe you just don't truly trust the people you're with enough to know that there are no motives behind their speech. Of course, I'm no accredited expert... I just smoke a lot of weed. So whatever the case, if you can't relax and enjoy it, then you should just stop until the time is right to try again. Never give up hope.

Yea dude it sounds like weed may not be right for you, and if so do not force yourself to like it because in the truth of the matter not all people like it. I have seen the people who force themselves to enjoy smoking and they never get the same high or the same great experience as everyone else.
