RAP music is ok sometimes but its the lyrics and message from the songs that kill me, rap music is soooo dumb, lyrics usually mean nothing but what ever is on the surface of the song. classic rock ftw

Jay-Z and 2Pac are prime, along with some Em snd Snoop here and there. But Jay-Z and Pac are the epitome of greatness. Longevity is the key.

I listen to every type of music for the most part. commericialized rap/hip-hop is horrible but there is a lot of good rap out there. I would even argue that the real gangster rap is like the music of the 60's 70's (old school rock hippie stuff) They sing about doing drugs (just like them) and also a reality that is an "escape" for the most part (just like all the music in the past (escape with LSD, pot etc) The escape in the gangsta rap is just different. Most of us are law abiding drones that listen to the government and what they tell us. Rap sings about everything that the government is against, drugs, violence, etc. (I would argue that the thug life is much more free and escapist than anything we do oorr anything rock puts out anymore fucking emo indie bull shit) Rap artists such as Three Six Mafia, lil wyte, lil wayne, etc. I don't feel like naming them all but lil Wyte is one to check out.

I couldn't agree more. Old school hip hop in the early 90s was good, late 90's were pretty good, the early 2000's were pretty sweet, and up to about 2004 was good. Ever since then, and more so today, the hip hop game has gone way downhill IMO...and i'm not even against it. The stuff out today is like "pop rap" or really stupid gangster rap that I just cannot stand. I want to like it, but if it sucks, it sucks.....that's my take on rap today
