all this "I dont consent to any searches" and other youtube stuff is absolute crap.. Have any of you actually faced this situation? cops can use just about any excuse they want as probable cause... especially if they pull the "I thought he had a weapon" card.

best way to avoid these are to hide your shit well and let them do their job during the encounter. If you make it hard on them, theyll make it as hard as they can on you. Cops in small towns are usually board, an uppity pothead who they know is probably holding makes their night.

The last time i tried asserting my rights, I spent the night cuffed to a bench. Every time ive been polite and coperative, ive driven off with a warning..

Refusing a search is not always the best way to handle a situation so that is about the only thing you did right during your pull over.

that sounds like blatant profiling if you ask me.

I knew somebody would point that out. Before this encounter, I had NEVER been in a situation like this, never searched, never profiled. Only been pulled over couple times with warnings for stuff like loud exhaust, no front plate, etc. Ive spent alot of time pondering what I would do in certain scenarios when they asked to search me weather I do or dont have anything on me Im always prepared for what my answer would be. In this case I did blurt out consent rather quickly, but that also happened to be the right decision in THIS scenario so it was still handled correctly. I was just caught off guard when he asked me to step out of the car for no reason, then him knowing false info about me I had no idea existed, so I had to make a quick action.

and yes cops can pretty much bend your rights and take them away however they see fit. NOBODY is safe, and I dont have the funds nor time to even think about fighting something in court.

Never, under any circumstances, give up your right to privacy. You should never consent to a search!

Call the cops on the psycho guy, hes uttering a death threat. If he has history he'll probably spend a day in jail and get a restraining order from you.

Dude next time a cop pulls you over just act chill. If you had no priors and acted chill, the cop really wouldn't have cared if you told him he couldn't search your car.

Reminds me onetime I was riding with one of my buds and we had a few joints (maybe 2 grams) in the back seat. A cop pulls up behind us while were on the road and I notice hes pretty close to my friends car. I tell my friend that hes getting his plates ran and freaks out and tries to ditch the cops. He pulls into a church and cop lights up and comes to the car. My friend was freaking out and shit. The cop pulled him over because he had bad tags. The cop asks to search the car and he says ya for some reason. I grab the joints and put them in my pocket when the cop isn't looking. Everyone gets searched, except for me. I told him I didn't consent and all he says is "ok".

I have been in situations where I have been searched even when I do not consent. You can't do shit then. Usually though they will know they broke the law to get your shit and will just let you off with some kind of "deal". If they still jail ya (hasn't happened to me yet) then hire a lawyer

Are Texas cops pricks about marijuana?

to tell u the truth if all u have on u is a joint or a small amount of weed its better to consent to search, they will just look in the glove box and arouind the car.But if u decline the concent they know somethings up and will look harder and call the dogs in,so its always better to concent to a search if u have a small amount

bullshit, Ive been smoking for a long time and this was my only encounter with the police how am I a rookie? Again, I only consented because the cops thought I was involved in bad things because A.My car/age B."im associated/friends with 1 very bad apple" even though neither are true of who I am, I had to comes off as 100% confident and carefree. Next time, and I hope theres a next time, I will not consent to the search, because I will have nothing.

Texas cops seem worse than other cops. They all got an attitude and assume youre guilty until proven innocent it seems.

first off punctuation is truely over rated.

second a corvette isnt necisarily a nice car (unless its new or a z06), especially if its a C5 (10-18,000) they've had more recalls than a ford focus.. (ford fuckedus)

a cops probable cause is only as good as his word,
and almost every cop is a liar, suffering from steroid abuse and short mans syndrome. (in the usa)

a joint is worth eating, and i wouldnt have hesitated... how many times is there less than a gram, when nugs on you? (in my case not that often)
