smokeys guide to making brownies (oil / lots of pics)

I made some brownies today. They turned out awesome. Here is how I did it, with pics for those who are unsure of what they are making.

You will need the following:
1 box Betty Crocker Traditional Fudge brownies (these work the best IMHO!)
3/4 cup oil
1/4 cup water
2 eggs
1/4 oz of freshly ground herb <!--[if gte vml 1]><v:shapetype id="_x0000_t75" coordsize="21600,21600" o:spt="75" oreferrelative="t" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" filled="f" stroked="f"> <v:stroke joinstyle="miter"/> <v:formulas> <v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"/> </v:formulas> <vath o:extrusionok="f" gradientshapeok="t" o:connecttype="rect"/> <o:lock v:ext="edit" aspectratio="t"/> </v:shapetype><v:shape id="_x0000_i1025" type="#_x0000_t75" alt="" style='width:15.75pt; height:14.25pt'> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip_image001.gif" o:href="http://forum.grasscity.com/images/smilies/stonedsmilie.gif"/> </v:shape><![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->(adjust to your taste)

Lets begin!

Go ahead and pour your oil into the pan. We’ll leave it off for now. I used extra virgin olive oil since I’ve found it absorbs better, and I do not notice a taste difference. Start grinding up your herb into a separate bowl. If you do not have a weed grinder, use a coffee grinder. The finer you can get the herb, the better.

Pick out the seeds, yadda yadda, standard stuff here; although, if you choose, you can cook the stems as well.

Look at that fresh herb. Smells great! Lets keep going…

Turn your oil on low. Let it warm up for 2-3 minutes. DO NOT LET THE OIL BOIL. This will ruin it. If it gets too hot, just lift the pan from the burner and turn down the stove. You want to keep the oil hot, but not boiling. Find a happy setting where you can leave the lid on.

Once your oil is hot, add your herb.

You should have something that looks similar to this at this point.

Stir it up, be sure not to splash yourself in your stoned cooking state (as I did).

Cover up your pan. You’ll want to keep an eye on it, keeping it below boiling. Stir every 3-5 minutes.

Keep an eye on the time you put the herb in the oil. I like to cook it for about an hour.

Turn on a fan; after a few minutes, this will start to smell quite strongly.

After 15 minutes…

After 30 minutes…

After 45 minutes. The oil should be quite dark, but not black, by now.

After 60 minutes. This is what you will end up with. A mess of oil and soggy herb.

Now you’ll want to do one of three things. 1) Leave the herb in the oil (gross). 2) use a steel strainer to strain out the cooked herb (works good). 3) let the oil sit for 10 minutes and cool, the herb will sink to the bottom. Slowly pour the oil into a container, leaving the herb in the pan. I did number 3.

This is what you end up with from number 3. Note that I started with ¾ cup oil and ended up with 2/3 cup. You have to account for the herb absorbing a small amount.

Now preheat your oven. In my case 350*F. Combine all ingredients but the cannaoil into a bowl. Get a mixer or a wisk too.

Add your cannaoil.

Mix for about two minutes.

Looks good already!

Grease up a pan with some anti stick spray, and pour your mixture in. Be sure to get as much as you can.

Bake by what the box says. Mine is 52-57 mins @ 350*F for an 8x8.

Finished product. These rock.

Hope this is helpful to someone.

This is a great instructional page and the pics are really helpful. A ton of my friends made brownies and it looked fairly complex but now i might try making them for myself.

Also did you use a 1/4 of dank, mids? and about how much ended up being in each brownie? Thanks again

I haven't made any edibles in about two years (make weed cake). As son as I have the opportunity to use a kitchen, I wanna make some brownies. I think I'll use this method.

How big of squares got you blazed?

We ate two each. The high is great, very relaxing. Its more of a couch stone than an active one. I feel so light right now.

I used 1/4 mids. We figured it out in another thread for an 8x8, 9 squares, is 7.7 per square.

Glad everyone likes!

Nice guide. I've personally experimented with different cooking times with the oil and find that the potency maxes out at around 25 minutes. Also, I stir mine constantly for that 25 minutes so as to not let the bud blacken as it has for you, by not allowing it to stick to the bottom or sides for any more than a few seconds, I'm left with much more light colored, more intact weed, my feeling being that the blackening is indicative of a burning of the bud, destroying the THC.

cooking the oil for that long has to burn it, which you can tell by the blackness...
and 52-57 minutes on 350? wtf? my brownies take 25.. and are delicious.
i use a coffee filter to strain. that way i can squeeze oil out of the herb.
