Bad Weed Trips

I would like to relate three stories regarding what I think were "bad trips" on weed and maybe get some speculations, opinions, advice, etc... The first story is fairly mild compared to the second, which is still dwarfed by the third.

The first happened over a year ago when I was a very occasional marijuana user (about once a month). I was camping with a group of kids, and my friend and I decided to take an easy 1.5 mile hike to a fairly isolated beach at midnight to chill and smoke some bowls. We hiked in the dark, and it became pretty eyrie (sp?) knowing that nobody else was around for miles. Anyways, we arrived at the beach, and started toking up out of a wooden peice. I took several large hits (keep it mind I was a lightweight at the time), and sudennly felt sick from all of the smoke, so I went off a couple feet to cough/spit. After about a minute of this, I looked back at my friend and noticed his face began to change/morph, and started moving towards me in a threatening manor. I began freaking out, and he soon was able to bring me out of it by soothing me etc. But at the time, I was very, very scared. Looking back on it, I think it might have been a combination of the fact that we were in a pretty spooky spot (fog rolling in, dark, etc.), and completly alone.

The second story happened about a month ago. I had been a daily smoker for maybe two or three months, and had invited a close friend to spend the night for a quiet/chill evening. My parents had gone out to a party, so we had the house to ourselves. I was looking forward to trying out my newly made Sobe gravity/waterfall bong, so we loaded a large bowl of some chronic weed. Keep in mind I had a nice tolerance built up at the time, but my friend did not. He smoked maybe once or twice a month. Anyways, he takes one hit off of the Sobe bong, and soon proclaims he is done (this is nothing unusual, as the Sobe bong hits very large hits). I take two or three, cash the bowl, etc. Anyways, he goes upstairs to call his parents to check and make sure he can sleep over, and I start cleaning up. Next thing I know, I hear a crash on the stairs and some yelling. I go look and see that my friend is in complete agony. He collapses in the hallway, completly freaking out, saying he is dieing, is in hell, is burning up, etc. (he's also a fairly religious person). I try to calm him down, and let him lay on my bed, turn the lights off, etc. I talk to him, and help him come out of what I thought (and still think) was a bad trip. After he came down, he told me his concious was talking to him, and he had thought he was dead and in hell. I think this might have been brought on by guilt about lying to parents. We watched some television for the rest of the night, and just chilled, but it was not a pleasant evening. Several days later he told me (in all seriousness) you couldn't pay him one million dollars to relive what had happened. He also later found out a close cousin of his had had a bad shroom trip on the same night.

The next Friday is when one of the most messed up things that has ever happened to me occured. Before I start describing it, I should describe the people involved.

The first is a friend of mine, "David." David and I havn't been friends for too long, maybe three or four months, but we party together three or four times a month. David makes very poor judgements sometimes, and can be immature in some ways (I almost think he might have a little bit of autism/asbergers or something). The second friend, "Claire," is a girl I had liked a lot (up untill this incident). We hadn't known each other for too long, but I knew her pretty well because of her knack of telling people very personal information. Claire also has a very strange obsession with sex. She talks about it constantly, and tells people REALLY personal sexual things, such as details on what she's done with certain people. The night before the incident (we had already made plans for us three to hang out the next day after school), she calls me, and we have a lengthy two or three hour conversation, mostly on sex. She told me some pretty personal, messed up things. One of the things she told me was how much she wanted to get laid the next night, but how she couldn't because she had just gotten her period and nobody would want to do a bleeding chick. She even told me that her period was slightly late, and she had thought she was pregnant. Then she told me she wished she was pregnant so that she could have sex the next night, and just get an abortion for the pregnancy later. Anyways, the overall point is this girl seems to have some major issues involving sex.

So school ends, and we all head up to my house to toke up before we hit up the town, meet up with other people, party, etc. We go down to my bathroom to smoke, and I load up the Sobe bong. I take a hit, then let Clair take a hit. She takes one major hit (keep in mind she is a lightweigth), and proclaims herself done. David and I continue to take more hits. We soon notice she has laid down on the floor, and is freaking out. She then begins to possition herself around the room as if she is having sex with an imaginary person, tounge out as if kissing, legs spread, etc. She moans, whilst David and I are like WTF. Anyways, I decide the best thing to do would be to have her lay down in my bed and calm down. She begins to fight my friend and I, and tear my bathroom apart, throwing things, etc. She also begins to tear her hair out. I am shocked and horrified. Finaly, I manage to half force her and half convince her to go lay on my bed, but she fights me all the way. I lay her on my bed, and talk to her, trying to calm her down. She pees in my bed, and occasionally falls out. I half to keep an eye on her, while at the same time getting no help from my friend who keeps complaining about how hungry he is ("Dude, shut the fuck up about food, we'll deal with that later). He does not grasp at all the severity of the situation, so I am forced to deal with it entirly on my own. Soon, Claire begins to make advances on me. First, she rips off some bead belts she has around her waist, spilling TINY beads all over my room. She then takes her shirt off (wearing no bra), looking right at me. I tell her to put it back on, as I am not about to take advantage of a girl out of her mind, especialy on her period. Anyways, she continues to make more advances on me, but I fight them off and lay her back down on the bed. Finally, she calms down, so I put Dark Side of the Moon on to allow me to relax for a little bit before I go clean up and we leave. I go upstairs, only to find my mother just arriving home from work. I race downstairs, put Claire on the floor, and cover her with a blanket so that my mom won't see her. Sure enough my mom comes in, and has a conversation with my friend and I in my room while six feet away this fucked up girl lays hidden under a blanket. When she leaves to take a shower, David and I take her out the back to his car. She throws up on the way. I run around, make some last minute clean ups (discover we had left a back with a tiny bit of shake where I am sure my mom had seen in coming in), and then get tell my mom we're leaving. We then leave and have a pretty chill night after that. At first I had wanted to take Claire home immidietly after leaving my house, but I soon calmed down, became less angry, and let her chill with us for the night. She doesn't remember anything about what happened.

Anyways, I would be interested in finding out people's own experiences of situations like these, and any possible explainations for the occurences of the second and third stories. I am 99% sure none of the weed was laced, but I realize that:

*Both people were lightweights
*Both had smoked (and taken one hit) from the Sobe bong
*Both had issues that seemed to be amplified/come out during the episodes

If you think you have any ideas, please post them, as I want to make absolutly sure this doesn't EVER happen around me again. The third situation was probably one of the most stressfull things of my life, and I would not want to relive it.

I mean, the first one... I'm not sure how real the delusion (or hallucination, not sure) was, as in looks, but Iv had my mind play some very weird tricks on me... I live in an altered world where everything looks... off, and I can thank psychedelics for that for sure, but that's beside the point...

earlier yesterday I had some mild stress-induced hallucinations, and I can only really think you were too high, paranoid, just so many stressers on the body and mind that it reacted that way... iv had some weird shit happen to me that is unexplainable.

But then I started reading the second one, and THATS when I started wondering what the fuck you guys are smoking lol.

Okay, so I finished reading... and all I can really say, is what teh fuck are you guys fuckin smoking?!

Like holy shit... that last one was like some PCP shit, you sure she wasnt on anything else, that includes medications.

Funny stuff though, I must say... no offense, but your friends are just fuckin weird... might wanna start smoking to yourself more, heh.

haha just this afternoon i smoked a little joint and a few cones to myself and i got mega trashed and it was only like 3 and a half hours before i started work, so i was paranoid through the whole high wondering if it would wear off in time

i got to work and i was still trippin pretty bad but i was coming down so it wasnt too bad, but i got that feeling how like if u do something wrong you think everyone noticed and you get heaps ashamed and shit

my worst trips are when people harrass me for being high.

I can understand it if you don't like it. But leave me the fuck alone, so I can enjoy my stone.

After having a few sessions compeletly ruined by people bitching, I prefer to make sure that I'm not going to be around 'non-smokers' when i'm high. It's just more enjoyable.

As for a 'bad trip' fuck I'd love to have some trippy as scary shit happen to me when I'm high. I love that kinda stuff.

Before when I used to smoke every now and again, sometimes when I smoked I thought I was gonna die, I had to keep telling myself, nah not tonight, and all I thought about was dying...my girl was like you ain't smoking again blah blah blah.... and i was like fuck lay down with me so maybe i can go to sleep shit...and it happened like 10 times in a row...some guy said I'll get over it....then I started smoking regularly and it stopped but shitz krazy

man i had a friend do that shit to me. we randomly hooked up with some chronic one night and were like whatever lets smoke out tomorrow after school. this was back in high school and we were very rare smokers, like all of high school i had smoked like once a year haha. anyways we're smoking out of an apple and an aluminum can and my friend eats the apple and we were laughing and shit. and he goes "mannn my legs are shaking haha are yours?!" and i said "yeah!" then we high fived and freaked the fuck out yelling that the weed was laced, to throw it out and get out and not smoke anymore i was like what the fuck. my brother and another friend were laughing like what the hell is wrong with him. then he runs out of the shed, pupils all dilated, and starts praying to god and we rush him inside. basically he starts freaking out calling the girl we got the weed from, threatening to break his glass table, wanting us to call the cops or 911 and if we dont hes going to and hes gonna break the table and fight us and shit, then got really cold and made my friend wrap him in a blanket and hold him. He kept telling us to take him to his ex gfs and we finally did and once he calmed down, and had a REALLY happy high, we were all pissed and annoying. it sucked to say the least.

But I've never had a "trip" from marijuana.
Except for a laced batch... but that's beside the point.

I rarely smoke in uncomfortable places, you need to be comfortable with your surroundings to fully enjoy your high, or else your just wasting your weed with paranoia. What did you expect that night in the woods/beach? To run around all happy and jolly? If you were scared shitless walking TO the beach, imagine how scary the walk BACK would've been. I'm not dissing you at all just realize that situations like that that sound ike fun ("oh man lets go smoke in that haunted house!") turn out to be paranoid adventures that are not the least bit fun and a waste of marijuana. Except for people who get a thrill out of that shit.

The story with Claire is fucked up, shes got some issues. You should realize how rare it is to 'trip'like this from marijuana, so the fact that you've been around 3 bad trips is pretty extraordinary.

To prevent this in the future just be more aware of the people your smoking with or smoke alone.

people "trip" like this when they haven't smoked much or at all. it's more so a newbie reaction and they aren't tripping. if it wasn't laced, they weren't tripping, just beyond the high they thought they would have.

i've seen plenty of people who thought they could handle it and clearly couldn't. looks like you found a few people who fit the bill. it's one of the reasons i don't smoke people up for the first time anymore, i've grown to hate these reactions so i try to avoid them.

i hate that shit. its not really a bad trip, more like a high killer. it just maeks me feel all shitty and down after somebody does that. theres one guy i know that always sees me high and just looks at me and my friends and calls us out in public and shit. i was really stoned one day and went off on him and he hasnt said anything to me since then though.

Never had a bad trip or anything like what you described from weed. Closest thing I've ever had was closed eye visuals the 2nd or 3rd time I ever smoked, and they were extremely awesome.

We were out in my friends backyard around a camp fire, and we were passin a joint around, and I started looking up at the stars. My eyes started to close and then it felt like I was flying around the universe at billions of millions of light years per second. Crazy shit.

I was watching this video about the hubble deep field (go on youtube) and I was enjoying the feeling of realizing I was insignificant, beaxuse whatever I did it wouldn't really matter. Then everything shifted and it really freaked me out, I thought I didn't exist... not a fun night.
