Scale question

Recently bought http://item.express.ebay.com/Pro-Sca...mdZExpressItem
it came today and looks great I have 2 questions first the top of the scale doubles as an expansion tray as you can see in the photos. The thing is the tray weighs a few grams is there any1 to set the scale so when i put stuff on the tray it doesn't count the try itself, just the product. Second question is there are instructions on how to calibrate the scale, what is calibrating the scale, does it matter if I don't do it? as it says i would need a 200g weight for it (which i dont have)

any help is greatly apprecaited

it should be precalibrated and if you put a tray or something on the scale then press tare it will go back to zero

True indeed...Regarding the tray if u place the tray on top of the scale before start-up the display should still be at 0..the scale actually takes into account the weight of the tray as if it wasnt there but as soon as you remove the tray you should get a negative reading compensating for the actual weight of the tray

Put a Nickel on the scale, it should weigh 5.0 grams on the dot.

Press tare after you put the tray on the scale, then weigh.

Means your shit is off .7 grams. So if you sack says 1.7, it is really only 1.0. Get the picture.

Put tray on, wait for the weight to read, zero it...incredibly simple.

You need a calibration weight to fix it, often these sort of scales use 50g 100g or 200g to calibrate. that it weight 5.7 does not necessarily mean its .7 off, when the spring is warped, it is off by a certain ration, so 5 is to 5.7 as 1 is to 1.14. Now you can never depend on this ratio holding true to do your weighing. I learned this after getting a defective scale and being unable to calibrate it, the next scale I bought came with a calibration weight and whenever its a bit off (which will happen once in a while) i just re-calibrate it. Look in your scales instructions for calibrating.
