"Weed makes you stupid"

One of the most common anti-marijuana advocacy arguments is that it will decrease your intelligence and inhibit your social functioning. They say something like, "60% of kids who use marijuana get Ds in school." I would be surprised if that WASN'T true. It's not that marijuana makes you get bad grades, it's that people who are getting bad grades are more prone to use marijuana. People with good grades usually stay away from marijuana because they think it will make them do bad (it doesn't, many of us here are living proof), while people with low grades don't care. Logically, more people doing poorly in school would be using marijuana. Makes sense?

Just make sure to draw a bold thick bold line between recreational fun with MJ and school work and unless necessary, dont mix the two.

Everyone is different, but the government likes to treat us all the same. Most of those statistics aren't flat-out lies but its really easy to manipulate numbers. Weed doesn't make you stupid, stupid people start out stupid, some of 'em just like to smoke

Weed makes some stupid and some smarter and some just remain the same.

A lot of people become temporarily stupid because they either smoke way way to much or just don't care but if you wanna learn and use weed you can.

If you go to class high and see you can't work and focus and work well then yuo shouldn't go to class high or your gonna do bad but if it helps you or doesn't affect your performance negatively then by all means go to class and your gonna do good.

A lot of people also just smoke and sit around eating pop corn or something while others smoke and become motivated to succeed at things.

It all depends on the person not the weed.

Definitely a good connection made. I can honestly say that I know kids who haven't ever smoked because they're afrai it will make them stupider.

That's what one of my friends said throughout high school, and to this day he hasn't smoked (freshmen in college) I didn't smoke in high school so I never argued him.

Like said already it depends on the person.

I personally like to smoke before I learn things, it helps me concentrate a lot better, id say I almost have A.D.D. lol, always wanting to multi task everything, but smoking lets me relax and concentrate (I practically do everything better stoned, whether its studying, doing house work, playing games, whatever lol and everyone that knows me knows it).

Also, where I work (a major university) there are tons of BRILLIANT people here with Ph. D's doing research and all kinds of different things, truly smart people, and guess what? most of them smoke all the time lol.

However I do know just as many people who get completely retarted and cannot control themselfs when high, so it really depends on the person I guess.

And in terms of highschoolers or whatever, I agree that the kids with the bad grades smoking just dont care either way, and that makes them more prone to smoke, and the smart book worm kids dont want to get in trouble and beleive all the anti marijuana propaganda they get fed.

but really there is no doubt that marijuana does dim some, others really arent effected by it

but a lot of people will tell you that it definately effects your memory

saying weed makes you stupid is retarded, is slightly affects my memory but I'm nowhere near stupid.. actually I'm smarter than anyone that I've heard say that.

the only way that marijuana affected my grades was that last year it make me so tired in the morning that i was falling asleep in algebra 2 which i had first period. since i was falling asleep and not paying attention, my grades slipped. otherwise my grades have stayed the same.

I knew a guy in college who when he was sober seemed dumb as a box of rocks and when high he was really smart.

He said his brain didn't function right when he was sober.


I started smoking in high school and I graduated in the top of my class. I had the highest ACT score they had had in years........

when i smoke i get REALLY motivated to do my homework on the come down when i think more clearly and it definately helps my concentration.
