why cant i take good pics???

i have a really nice camera and it has a macro lense.....i asked this chick i know whos really good at photography what the macro symbol is on the camera and she said its the flower thing....so ive put it on there and tried to take good macro pics of my bud and shit but they never come out at all....can i please get some good macro taking tips from the people here cause i always see kick ass bud shots that i cant match

Try setting the camera down...getting the bud in place, and using a timer, so the camera doesn't shake at all.

The macro feature seems to be more sensitive to movement.

Also, try to get a 2 or 3 different lights on the bud, or use natural sunlight to take better pics.

Here's what I do to try to take good pictures of weed - these are just my opinions and may not work for other people.

1. I zoom in, rather than putting the camera close to the weed. If I could put the camera further away but zoom in I'd do that because it helps with the focus and it makes the weed look focuses and background objects look blurry.

2. Make sure I have good lighting. I try never to use the flash because it just doesn't work out very well. Put on an overhead light, or even better, open the windows of the room youre in for good natural sunlight

3. Make sure you hold the camera steady. If you don't have a tripod, put it on something solid and take the picture. It's really hard to get a good closeup if you're just holding the camera in your hand because it's so shaky.

Post some of the pics you took and I'll try to help you with specifics.

When all else fails, put a magnifying glass between your lens and the bud. If u search a bit for the right distance you should be able to get some decent pics. I can't get my crappy camera anywhere near decent focus without it. U will need some sort of tripod for u'r camera to hold it steady but this is again something u can improvise on.

ha my camera is actually my dads camera and its a damn nice camera........and that chick wont take bud shots for me cause she has absolutely nothing to do with MJ

Also, see if you can turn on auto focus - it may be turned off and you may not be getting any focus.

Depending on how modern the camera is - most newer cameras have a function where you can click the button halfway to focus, then press it all the way down to take the picture - try that out.

If its an SLR, just manual focus that shit!
