What makes a bad glass pipe?

Hey guys, my girlfriends grampa found this brand new glass pipe in a junk yard. It was clean and totally new and unused but I cleaned it again to make sure. My question is what makes a glass pipe bad? Cheap glass? Acrylic? How would I know that this glass pipe isn't harmful to my health? Ive just been reading a Lot of threads lately saying that aluminum, copper and glue make for hazardous pipes and or pipe/bong materials. So please feel free to enlighten me about hazards in glass pipes. This will be my first glass pipe. So I'm pretty stoked about it. And ive never hit from a glass pipe before so, I'm stoked. Happy smokin.

Thin glass and or small carb makes glass pipes bad. Check to see if theres any cracks or chips in the glass. Dip it one more time in rubbing alcohol to make sure any living thing (bacteria, fungi, viruses) is killed. Let the alcohol evaporate and enjoy

Im not a fan of burners.

Like pipes that are so small that they burn your face when you light them.

Also, thin glass can be a problem if you carry it around.

Uhh...small hole to chamber is a pain in the ass.

Too small a mouthpiece is too.

No carb

Small bowl

I don't think there is anything harmful about smoking out of glass, other than the fact that you're smoking.. but free glass, be happy.

thanks for all the immediate response you guys! I will dip that thing in alcohol. So, like the type of paint or whatever they used to color the glass with doesn't matter? Or the type of glass? The pipe is yellow with some clear areas and it doesn't look like a traditional glass pipe. The bowl looks like every glass pipe out there but the air passage piece is skinny. If that makes any sense. Hopefully.

glass comes in all shapes and sizes, and don't worry about the coloring and stuff, that's not harmful.

I can't post pics at the moment unfortunately because I use my iPhone to post. But I'll tell ya what though, I'm looking at it right now and after looking at pipes for sale online, I gotta say that mine looks like its probably priced at $30 and up. And my glass looks and feels real sturdy. Its not thin. How she rips? I don't know yet, I'll find out when I get back to smoking. I haven't smoked in 5yrs. Can you imagine what my first rip will feel like? I'm scared. Kinda. I'm moving to Iowa next week for 6 mos and I'll smoke when I get there, I can't smoke here in los angeles because my girlfriend is wierd about it.

I know bro. But I live with my girl and she's wierd about it at the moment, sometimes she's like go for it and sometimes she's all like not ready for me to do it. She's never smoked before. I'm still working on convincing her. I moved here in los angeles 3 yes ago and have never tasted cali bud man. I just wonder what it would feel like to toke up for the first time again after 5 yrs.
