Hey guys, sorry to start another thread on the subject, but here it goes:

I could only obtain Bacardi 151 easily, so that's what I got. (Fuck Pennsylvania's laws regarding EverClear!)

I plan to pick up one quarter of semi-decent stuff.

My understanding is the ratio is 28 grams per 16 ounces. This doesn't specify THC or alcohol content.

My plan is to use 7 grams of weed and 4 ounces of Bacardi 151. Seal this in a glass jar (jelly type jar), leave it under my bed for a period of time about 7 days, shaking it every morning and every night.

I then plan to unscrew the cap of the jar, and let it sit until 50% of the Bacardi 151 has evaporated. This, as is my understanding, should increase the potency, and decrease the alcohol content, while not loosing any potency to evaporation etc.

Will this work? I've done a heavy amount of research, and I've seen soak times of 30 minutes to 3 months. I'm unclear wether or not evaporating the alcohol will harm the tincture.

Does anyone have any personal experiences they'd like to share? What worked, what didn't? Any advice for first-timers? What would you do differently this time around?

Well, I know that the longer you soak the more THC is absorbed into the alcohol. To make green dragon you let it soak for like 3 months but your doing something different so I'm not sure.

Just make sure all the alcohol evaporates before you smoke it, then I think you will be fine.

LOL don't you mean drink it? How do you smoke a tincture?

boil it and inhale the fumes. i did it once in a light bulb vape. not as fun as weed but its good to put a few drops on top of a bowl or dip a joint in it

I also have heavily researched making tincture because in the near future, I plan on making bubble gum lollipops. I live in NJ and everclear is easily available around here which is what I will use for a total of 7 days. Since you can only get 151, you may want to push it to 10 days or so but 3 months is WAY overkill. I've read everything from 1 gram per ounce to 2 grams per ounce. Generally the more bud per ounce, the stronger but you have to be careful the first time you injest it because it can be quite strong and you don't want to throw yourself into a panic attack. Also, don't put more than a half ounce in a jar at a time or else your wasting weed. Good luck!

I've decided to push the soak time up significantly. Basically, because of college/papers, I've decided to not smoke until xmas break, to stay at my mental peak. But, I'll prepare this until that time, giving me a lot of soak!

Is it a good idea to let all the ethyl alcohol evaporate out?

To those discussing volume of 151:
Remember, 75% alcohol, and I want it all to evaporate, so I would end up with 1 ounce of tincture in the end.

So, does 4 ounces sound like too little?

Based on what a previous user mentioned, I should have between 3.5 and 7 ounces of 151. What are we thinking then, guys?

What is an approximate dosage? One mil? Two? Three? Ten?

I am wondering how many uses I'll get out of this.

If you plan on condensing 7 grams of bud into 1 ounce of alcohol, that is going to be very very strong. What kind of pot are you going to use? Remember, 1 fluid ounce is 30ml, only 2 tablespoons.

This type of convertion in its final form NEEDS to be tytrated to the first user.And do you extract the liquid from the vegitation at the biginning of evaporation or the end?

In general:

I plan to get some "mids". Not sure of their actual quality. I need to save some money to buy people gifts, and its my first time, so I thought I wouldn't get anything nicer.

I do plan to test it myself first, gradually, to determine appropriate dosage. Should I take .5 mils at 30 minute increments, or what?

I plan to let all the alcohol evaporate, than filter out the vegetation with a coffee filter. I wasn't too considered about liquid absorption by vegetation, I just planned to squeeze the filter a few times at the end. Why, is this bad practice?

Let's make sure we are talking about the same stuff. Starting volume of liquid is 4 fluid ounces. Ending volume is 1 fluid ounce of whatever is in Bacardi 151 besides ethyl alcohol.

Are you saying condensing 7 grams into 4 fluid ounces of Bacardi 151, ending up with 1 fluid ounce of Bacardi 151 sans ethyl alcohol is too strong? In that case, should I start with 6 fluid ounces of Bacardi 151, or what?

I just started learning this so im no pro but i would make sure you get 95% of the fluid out of the veg as there may be good stuff in there,when i do something similar i use a centrifical vegi juicer to get all the good stuff out.

Hmm, okay. So I think my next order of business then is finding out how the hell I can grind this up into a "fine powder". I don't own a grinder, or an old coffee grinder. And, as aforementioned, I don't have the disposable income what with xmas rolling around and all.

Any thoughts? Scissors in a bowl is all I could think of. Mortar and pestle, not like I have one, I don't think would work. Any ideas anyone? Maybe a boxcutter or something?

Blender or food processor maybe?
