Rare means it's basically extinct, very few people will be able to get their hands on it. Like for example, PK is considered to be rare but it is very much easier to find then Purple Haze. Purple Haze is really really rare, which means really close to extinct.

Did everyone ignore my post or something? It's not extinct. You won't find it on the street, but there *are* some incredible purple sativas out there. If you want to grow it, good luck, it's pretty finicky inside.

its not extinct, theres still some seeds that people are to scared to try to grow incase they mess up. yes purple haze is the best weed and best high, my dad saved 1 ounce of purple haze from when it was around. he has 10 seeds of it, were gunna try to have it come back but idk if seeds that old would still grow

Personaly, I think this is incorrect. There is no way for us to know purple haze is extinct. weed isn't legal, so anyone growing it isn't gonna put out advertisements. I myself think it's around, just not in the amounts it was, and what there is is extremely hard to find.

I'm going up to northern New Hampshire today with my friend. He says he knows an old timer who actually grows Purple Haze for his own personal use (doesn't sell it). I'm going with him to check it out.

So what's all the fuzz about? I have real trouble imagining that some puple strain grown in the 60's by some hippies can compete with the modern day super strains grown by proffessional growers. We have shitloads off special nutrients, hps and md and all kinds off other lamps, hydrophonics and so on. All stuff that as far as i know wasn't available to the hippies in the sixties. Not to mention 40 years off experience wich has lead to extremly potent strains grown to theyr full potential.
Now i'll chose me some superbebly grown Arjan's haze or super silver haze or some other htcc winner any time off the day above some supposebly magnificent purple strain grown by hippies in the sixties.

Boy these purple haze, or even the purple strain threads in general get old really quick.. So much misinformation spread by those with absolutely 0 knowledge of growing, strains, and the like... Anyone here even alive when purple haze was being grown regularly and prevalent?


The haze will always have it's place in modern mj breeding. Solely for it's high thc content alone. Other strains could be coated in crystal, and have no where near the thc content of a haze. It is the cannibinoids profile of very high thc, and very low cbc, cbn etc. etc. that made it so popular. Many "new age" strains stem from, or have some amount of haze genetics in them. It was that commonality of cross breeding high thc sativas, to shorter flowering indica at those times, in the hopes of coming up with a plant yielding high thc, and quick flower times that made the haze so unpopular to grow (not extinct, but unpopular to grow in it's original sativa-haze form).

At the time the purple haze was popular cloning was not being used to keep elite phenotypes around.. Cloning is another "new age" technique in marijuna cultivation, as far as keeping specific plants around in it's true form for future growing .. You wanna know what this means.... The purple haze was nothing more then a purple phenotype of the original haze, and grown from a different seed every damn time you got it.. Anyone with a basic rudimentary knowledge of growing, or breeding marijuana knows that even seeds from the same parents will hold phenotypical variance from one another.. Some will be green, some purple, and varying degree of potency-flavor etc.. Not a type of genetic, or clone that can be lost forever.. If original haze seeds with diversity exist (and they do) the purple haze will not be extinct.

"Hippys" or those who grew back in those days were the professional marijuana breeders of their time. The same ones who introduced us to skunk- hybridization of strains, and many other technical advances in indoor cultivation as well. keep on smoking those cannabis cup winners winners, anyone in the know knows the good shit, the really elite stuff is being created-grown, and shared by the small mom, and pop breeders, such as those "hippys" still in cali. fueling the medical marijuana movement.

It's officially true now. I posted this in another thread but the thread title was confusing so I deleted that and made this. I find this subject to be really important, we lost a part of cannabis history, we lost the most legendary strain in the world and most people don't even know it.


Post two days ago: So as it has been made clear that the legendary strain Purple Haze is extinct. I have come across many purple strains, and a lot of the times the person selling it will say "It's Purple Haze," because it is by far the most recognizable name to the average suburban teen. So after reading about this recently and looking it up, I asked an elder smoker (was clearly the hippie type) who use to live out in the Bay Area while going to college to describe the high that Purple Haze gave him and he said it was one of the best highs you can get and unlike any other high marijuana has to offer. He had a lot of other great things to say about the strain and he has been a marijuana enthusiast for over 35 years now and he even went as far to say it was by far his favorite strain while he was in college. He mentioned how he regretted never growing it. So this got me really interested, he even said that some elements of the high almost reminded him of a cocaine high. He stated there is a far difference between Purple Haze and any other purple strain. So as I have mentioned in another thread, I do know a professional grower and I am going to ask him about this and see what information he has to offer and I'll post up what he says. I'm really interested in finding this strain or maybe even giving someone the idea to bring it back some how.


Today: Well I asked him yesterday and he confirmed that the strain is indeed extinct.

just speculation. cause think about it how would he know ? maybe its exinct in your area but maybe iuts thriving in india or some other place. you dont know or anyone know all the strains everywhere and who has them...
