Yea it'd be pretty much impossible to recreate, but theres better stuff around now anyway.

somewhere down the line someone made up the genetics for purple haze, it may have been years and years of cross breeding and to knwo exactly what plants they used would be the only possible way to bring it back

Find a lot of landrace sativas and chuck them randomly around your garden

eh, there are much more intriguing strains besides purple haze. Panama Red, Original Thai Kush, Thunderfuck....the list could go on.

Purple Haze is just cool because rappers and such talk about it. People are going to say the high was unlike anything they have ever had because they can't get it anymore.

The day a Panama Red plant is growing in my garden will be the day I am satisified with my marijuana growing efforts.

Purple haze... Not extinct, but extremely difficult to locate... Especially in the sates where we don't have the freedom to line our backyards with 10ft+ 18-20+ week flowering sativas..

Haze (purple is just 1 of many phenos) is still being grown along with many landrace sativas of yesteryears by those with the passion needed to take on such projects. There is a group of growers in Spain who were gifted, and have continued to preserve the haze for decades.. Not just breeding 1 haze to another, but large populations, and breding for genetic diversity within the population (Breeding, and preserving them so many of the original phenotypes can continue to be found in the population)..

Seeds from a few pollinations have been available for purchase on seedbay, and if you search purple haze or original haze on icmag you should find a few nice threads with pics of the different phenotypes. Supposedly purple haze is not even one of the better phenotypes found within the strain, but like many strains of today was sought after for it's exotic appearance more then anything.

And I agree... To many genetic variables even within one single given strain, to expect to take say 4 or 5 (extremely rare sativas in there own right) breed them together, and receive something even close to the same.

Many seed banks offer a skunk x northern lights, or a skunk x kush, or nl x haze but all differ from each other.. It comes down to selection within each individual strain.. one breeder can be choosing parent stock for potency-flavor, and the other can be choosing for Yield-potency etc.

I'm really interested in finding it. It's basically extinct though, I'm really interested in finding it. It's a connoisseur strain, it doesn't benefit the grower in anyway unless it's a true hobby.

Oh well, there will be a strain to replace it.

And I don't think it's certain that the 'purple haze' strain is dead, it could be reproduced by chance to have exactly the same biology and side effects.

they recreated it with the exact same genetics, the original is extinct and has been for awhile.

Even if it was, it would still be just as rare because it's a low yielding plant that takes awhile to grow.

You can get Panama Red, Santa Marta Gold, Acapulco Gold, Colombian Gold, and a whole bunch of other delicious sounding landraces if you look hard enough. Genetics don't "disappear", they just stop crossing the border. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to link to the site because it might be viewed as a competitor? But I dunno if that rule is directed at links to headshops and stuff. Worth a shot I guess

http://www.icmag.com/

If you look around there you'll find some people selling 'em, or getting ready to sell 'em. Just do a search.

Rare and extinct is 2 different things.

There could be low yeilding strains that are overlooked, killed, etc for numerous reason, maybe the grower simply didn't like it. Maybe there's wild patches in some forrest and they've been evolving on their own. Cool to think when extremely high...
