So yeah, I am totally new to this forum, but everyone seems pretty cool...Anyway, I first discovered weed a few years ago when I was a junior at UC Santa Cruz. Since then, I have smoked a few times and enjoyed myself. Now, however, I think it is time for me to buy some weed instead of relying on the generosity of friends. What is the etiquette of buying weed? What are the measurements that are common...What are prices for some basic weed? How many times can you get stoned with a certain amount of weed? How do you actually buy weed? I mean, are dealers really secretive, or what? I have never bought weed or been with anyone buying weed before. In fact, I don't really know much about weed except how to smoke it. Heh heh. Anyway, thanks for any advice/tips/whatever!

mj usually comes in one of these sizes
dimes
1/8's (1/8 of Oz, bout 4 grams)
1/4's or quaters (bout 7 grams)
there are larger amounts but i doubt you'll want to buy that much right away.

Prices are differnet everywhere u go. If Santa Cruz is in CA like i think it is, Cali_Toker or somone should be along to give u some prices. Most dealers let their friends know and then set out from there. I wouldn't buy from anyone too out spoken. Also dont act like your a newbie because then they might try and rip u off

yeah, if you go to someone on the street and ask, thats a bit risky, might get busted.....

Yeah, my girlfriend has a friend who smokes a lot, and I guess her brother sells, so that is probably who I will go with. I've never met the guy before, so I don't really know how to act. Anyway- I still need to know how many times you can get stoned with a certain amount of bud. I know I will be having some guests this weekend, and I want to buy enough for them (4 people total), and a little extra for my girlfriend and I for whenever. I am looking to spend about 40 bucks, maybe less if I can get away with it. I don't need anything fancy- just some decent stuff.

$40 should get you a decent amount. Depends on prices over there and what you get. Anyways, you don't need very much to get high, especially if you havent smoked very much. you should be able to get at least a quarter for $40, but can't guarantee because it depends on quality and whats available. a quarter will make probably like 6-7 joints maybe. Guess that depends on how big you roll them, stuff like that. You could probably get more then 6-7 too... Anyways, even with the uppergrade schwag I get (schwag is pretty cheap. Stuff I get comes from mexico, but is still pretty nice. I can get an ounce for about $40 when I buy in bulk, heh), I few hits used to get me pretty fucked up when I was new. Now I smoke like 2/3rds a joint and im pretty high, just not for a really long time. Anyways, since you don't have much of a tolerance, 3-4 hits should get you pretty high, no matter what you get. Of course that also depends on how big of hits, and how long you hold it in, etc...

ok, i think im making it more complicated. Just buy what you can get for $40 from someone you can decently trust. Since you could reach that guy again if he fucked you over, you should be alright. Then just smoke until you are high.

Does your girlfriend smoke? You can probably trust her to get some weed through her freind for you. and her friend probably isn't going to try to rip a friend off. $40.00 should get you a quarter ounce (about 7 grams) of some mid-grade weed. maybe get a few more joints than 6 or 7 if you roll them right. maybe 8 or 9.. You could always smokin a few bowls though.. Go to a smoke shop around you and look around, (always fun for me

You're new so if you make a home made bong you can take a couple good rips and be pretty good. When you have a bong the weed lasts longer than when you roll joints.

My girlfriend does smoke every once in awhile, but she is conflicted most of the time. When she was in grad school she stopped, but recently, she smoked out with her friend. She was excited about it for a few days after, but the interest seems to have gone by the wayside. Anyway, yeah, she wants me to buy the weed. I originally tried to get her to get it, then she was like "Oh yeah, I'll get her cell phone number for you." So, I'm on my own. I've smoked a few times, but usually it takes 7-8 hits to get me going. I usually take like 5-6 more hits after that. I'm a big guy (240lbs), so maybe that's why. I don't really take big ass hits because I cough for days and it sucks. Of course, after that, I'm feeling pretty damn good for at least a few hours. Of course, the next day... Which reminds me.. Is there a way to prevent that feeling the next day when you feel stupid but not high? I'll go to work the next day just feeling stupid and lazy. It sucks. Thanks for all of your advice! Yeah, I refer to what I get as schwag usually, but I dunno, its the only thing I've ever had. Its definately from mexico though, heh. Has little red hairs on it =). Definately worth it for the price.

Just say, "How much for a quarter?", and decide how much
you can afford based on that. Also, he might deal in ounces
only. I have a dealer who does that. so you may have to
scrounge up some more cash. Usually $80 to $100 for an
ounce of regs around here. Your mileage may vary.

It's about $40 a 1/4 for some decent stuff around here. $10 for a dime. You might want to start out with a dime or 1/8 if your not so sure, and your afraid you will get ripped off. Most dealers dont sell dimes anymore though....not here anyways

$280-350 Oz

If you live in Santa Cruz it shouldnt be a problem getting bud, Santa Cruz is well known for growing alot of good bud.
