i just used a drill bit and i pointed it at an angle to make the hole slanted. then i drilled a carb right on the other side.

LOL. I did the same thing years ago. I could only get the plastic ones though.

you dont know any local glassblowers? THey could put a very clean hole and flamepolish it over so its not jagged. If you found a glass pipe blower, they could make it gong for probably $30 bucks

This is the first time I have heard to use petrolium jelly. It does seem like it would be a hassle to continuously pour water on the cylinder. I might try that out. Thanks for all the encouragement so far, I will hopefully get it done sometime soon when I have time to sit down and concentrate on it.

ive always heard to do it with water, im not sure how effective petroleum jelly is or not.. but since i KNOW water works, id say your risking cracking it especially since that cyclinder is probably 2mm thick at most?

That makes sense. So while I am drilling, just a constant stream of water going over the hole will keep it cool enough? I just checked on the yellow pages for local glassblowers but the closests to me is an hour and a half away so that isnt a possibility.
