Silica Gel In Your Stash Jars

Does anyone know if it is safe to put a silica gel packet into your stash jar? I'd assume it would be seeing as how things like pepperoni and jerky have packets inside to keep moisture out.

Anyone do this because i wiki'd silica gel and read that a certain type of sillica not sillica gel can cause sillcosis or someshit. I think i'm just overreacting because i'm a little baked...

As long as it stays in the packet, I don't see why not. That's probably a good idea, actually.

Yeah, i was thinking the same thing. I read about someone doing it in another thread a while back but i couldn't find it when i tried searching for "silica gel".

I would stick to packets that you find in food containers instead of ones that you'd find elsewhere.

I don't know. I have never tried smoking jerky, only eating it. Why the need for silica gel, I've never had anything mold except hearing about orange peel incidents.

Thats and excellent idea! I don't see why it wouldn't be safe as long as it came from a food item like every said. Your friends shoe would probably be a good place to get one from to.

Give it a go and see what happens. It probably will prevent mold like a champ.

I don't think that would be the best idea. Not from a health stand point, but those things are meant to keep moisture out. It'll suck the moisture from your weed in no time. I've never had problems w/ my weed growing mold or mildew so i think it'd do more harm than good.

yea I use an airtight jar for the sole purpose of keeping my buds from drying out too much. if you bud is too moist you could just not seal the bag or whatever you keep it in untill its dry enough

search oxygen absorbers. i had a thread about this awhile ago. my theory was that it would prevent mold and stuff. but good idea too! plus rep for thinking of it urself too.

i believe oxygen absorbers are called desicant, oxygen and water absorber are both used for preserving and drying mushrooms.
