ghetto safe?

ok i made a ghetto pipe with a m.sketch marker and a this thing that i know is 4130 chromoly steel that i came upon in my gayrage and a friend told me i was gunna end up with some weird plastic cancer from it i used a small piece of mesh as a screen. the screen has yet to fail and ive never eaten anything from this. its only gotten hot once after being passed like 12 times on 2 packs. well i was wondering if it was safe, the metal is jammed into the big end of the maker and the marker has been shaved down so i dont melt it with the lighter when i take a hit. also i was high one night when i made it and put a carb hole in it. it works but im just worried if its safe or not what do you think?

i personally wouldnt use that in my opinion plastic is the worst thing to smoke out of. especially things like smelly markers, yuck, but if it works it works.

If thats what you need to get er done, then by all means continue.

I personally think brass metal tastes bad when smoked out of, i cant imagine what smoking out of a marker tastes like. plus burning plastic makes toxic fumes i would not want to be inhaling.

do to the head shop and cough up 5-10$ for a one hitter, around here you can get glass or metal hitters for that price, and theyll last much much longer, easier to clean all around better in my opinion.

the plastic doesnt melt and i dont use it long enough to heat it up like it did that one time it was 420 and we were smokin a nug that i had saved for a month since it was over qualified to certifiably bomb hotboxing an attic in a 4 head circle and we were all gone after the 3rd round and it was gettin to hot to hold but not melting the only time this has given off fumes was when i was makin it and i cleaned it out before using it theres no smeel of weed on it other than the bowl nor is there any marker smell i taste smoke and thats it so yea it gets it done i just want some opinions on if its safe or not.

safe is a realitively vague word. my point was that for 5-10$ you wouldnt have to worry about it, you sound like you like it tho, it obviously gets the job done.

I'll go out on a limb here, but im doubting that many people on this site smoke out of plastic, so they wouldnt really know for sure how 'safe' it is.

you have to wonder why most pieces arent made out of plastic..

your risking your health over a magic marker, when you could spend 5-10 on something thats 'safe' and not have to worry. I think youll kick yourself in the bum when the supposed consequences of smoking out of plastic (may) come back to get you, all because you didnt want to spend 5$ on a hitter.

Id rather be safe than sorry. <--thats my point.

I have to say there was a time when I would make a smoking device out of nearly anything, but I have always drawn the line at plastic. The dye alone in most plastics can make you sterile, lead to respiratory issues and in all likelihood bake your brain like a potato homes.

Try to use non-flaking metals for your bowl pieces, and always burn the screen before smoking off of it. That's about all I can say besides DON'T MAKE BOWLS OUT OF MARKERS!

k then ill stick to mcgyvered bongs since i ive with the rents and cant buy a nice on. the last time i used this was 420 and im only gunna use it wen i can use a ghetto bong thanx all for help this was just a piece that was easy to carry around ill try to find a headshop locally and look into a one hitter or order and inferno one from EDIT
