Constitutes a hit?

Whats up guys, i'm new to these forums, been browsing for awhile lookin at stories and whatnot but today i decided to finally join, so i was thinking what to post first and i thought of this:

This is something me and my friends debate about all the time:
What is considered a hit?

My friends say that a hit is one puff from a joint/pipe/bong-whatever.

BUT i say its one EXHALE from a joint/pipe/bong-whatever

Example: Say you have a blunt and you want to take a hit, does your hit start from when you start inhaling and end when you take your lips off said blunt?

OR

Does your hit start from inhaling and end when you exhale?

I've always wondered this because my friends rag on me all the time cause i take about three short puffs with an air inhale between each puff(in the end its a lungs full of smoke)-but its all one exhale so its the same as taking a long ass drag just broken into sections.

so what do you guys think? am i in the wrong or are they?

I agree with you. I usually take 2 short puffs and then a long drag b4 exhaling, but i still consider that as one hit, not 3. Interesting topic though.

Well you're wrong but takin three short puffs is alright so you get some oxygen if you don't wanna cough, but as long as you're not takin giant puffs it's not any different from taking a regylar hit.

as long as there i only one exhale its only one hit at least thats the way me and my friends do it.

A hit I've always thought of a one toke. So if you puffed it quick like you do you'd be getting more then two hits. Doing it in a circle, there shouldn't be a problem; same amount of smoke just in quick bursts. But I know it personally irritates me after I've smoked a few, and everyone is chilled then someone gets this burst of energy and starts all these shot quick hits. It's like, damn, relax and toke hard!

but an interseting story to go with this topic:

I was at this guys party (never met the guy or been there before) and he had weed going around and around like it was no tommaro (ALOT of DANK bud folks) and so it was me and my friend, we'll call him B. Now me and B had never been there before but we were like "hell yea this is kickass" so all of the sudden this blunt gets passed to me and i take my 3 puffs (which is all ONE exhale in the end, keep in mind) and this black dude next to me was like puff puff pass bro, and i was like well sit down cause i gotta another hit to take. Then he was like naw bro i just saw you take like 3 hits, thats fucked up man. Luckily i had the owner of the house and the bud sittin next to me, so i asked him, "hey yo, is one hit one puff? or is it one exhale?" This guy was super chill and was like "its one exhale bro, relax your fine" After that, that black dude was pissed and i was like what now fool! tryin to skimp me on my hits!

So any one else on the topic?

a hit can't be completed until it's exhaled, if you ask me. i'd never get stoned off a joint if i couldn't take my 3 puffs. I habitually smoke joints like i do cigarettes, meaning one mouthful of smoke, then regular air. I instantly start coughing from a joint or a blunt once it gets past a mouthful of smoke. what I don't understand is I can take fucking huge bong rips, and tokes off a pipe that would choke a camel. it's just joints/blunts.

But yeah, i'm rambling, so to answer your question, one exhale equals one hit. as long as you're not taking super-mega-pulls, you're good.
