If you had dried and/or cured your stuff properly in the first place, it would be plenty brittle enough to break off the glands from the capitate stalk w/o much effort. I make my own dry sift clear melting kif... I know this for a fact.

I tried the keif method,followed it word for word and all that other good shit. And all I wound up with was a big plastic baggy full of hot keif... The keif's been building up for a few weeks now,so could it have been too dry to make into hash? Any ideas or tips? Maybe a few drops of water or something to help it re-moisten & stick? I REALLY wanna make & smoke some hash.

Why would you wanna take your loose kif and press it in order to essentially make it last a shorter amount of time?

Maan.. I understand it's still the same "weight", but compressing it only compacts it.. and then you end up smoking a big chunk of it at a time.. not needed.

Unless the kif sucks.

Because freezing breaks the cell structure down....simple as that, i dont feel like going and reading my science textbook for a more complex description of the whole process. And by heads i mean trichome heads, the round bulbs...some of them dont fully un-attach so remain still on the plant matter, freezing helps them come lose, and while freezing also makes the plant matter come appart it exposes more material that may have smaller traces of thc so you get a little bit more.

THC is not the only thing that gets you high, there are many other things that effect your high, and all of it doesn't just exist inside the trichome. Thc, thcv, cbd, cbn, cbc, cbg......those all are what get you high..... and thats why i say freezing helps break the cell structure (in more simpler words, freezing helps BREAK THE PLANT APART, rendering its cell walls 'helpllessss' so it falls appart easyer) which then allows the more substances to be released.... such as if you have a fat branch and just cant break it down into small pieces so you freeze it and it comes appart easily exposing not only the skin and hollow core, but the woody stuff as well which has some of those substances.

Thats where my thinking was, i was not trying to explane what each molecule in the cannabis plant does. I know damn well CBN is a degradation product of thc, and it does produce the depressant effects that make your head seem fuzzy/cloudy. What my point was going into that area was that everything extracted could then have individual things extracted from it with other chemicals and soonafter create budder cause you would have left out the shit you dont want for the perfect high, i just didnt want to go there because i really didnt think it was neccesary. your talking about butane and whatever else... im just talking about my general way of extracting, i gave it. and i dont want to go more in depth unless its for making a thread to help ppl....

But im sure you still dont see where my reasoning is. Say you like the trippy/psychedelic effect you get from nevilles haze.... well then you might want to create budder with alot of that effect....maybe even that one only effect.... and have the knowledge..the lab maybe....whatever..... well then you would go and extract it and make sure shit like cbn and whatnot was flushed ouf of the mix. Now im not saying thats exactly how its done, or that its easy, or that im right or wrong or that your wrong or right or anyone is this or that. well, no head biting off man. it's just a matter of taste. I like good smoke, and I like good hash. this stuff just happens to have been made from leaves trimmed from harvested plant. there is a good bit of thc on the leaves, not enough to smoke the leaves effectively, but enough to make a bit of hash. see, this is, eh hem, excuse me, about half of what was in previous pic, dried. see all the lovely chrystals. I guess I got to get a little more high tech to get more pure though. this about the best I can get with a coffee filter. peace
