The famous throat burn

I've been smoking for over 10yrs now and even now once in a while i'll choke up off a big ass bong rip. I'm sure most of you have experienced the nasty ass throat burn after you choke up and cough...sometimes the burn is not as bad but sometimes it gives u a terrible scratching/scraping feeling in your throat which usually lasts for about 10 minutes...i know drinking water helps but it still takes about 10 minutes for the nasty burn to go away...it feels like someone is scraping ur throat with a knife or some shit...so what im wondering is if there is an instant way to make that horrible throat scratching/scraping feeling go away...i think anything sweet like juice or soda makes it worse cause ur throat gets all sticky and shit...so far only cold water seems to help but like i said it takes about 10 minutes...so is there anything that will work faster?

Personally I find that menthol cough drops help a lot but nothing will completely take it away. I just try to make sure that I always have the rip under control so I won't cough.

^yeah, any soothing cough drop is the best bet for something like that.
and in my opinion, when i cough like that i know i took too big a hit, and dont enjoy the experience as much because my throat feels like shit. So i try to make sure my smoking is within my limits.

I dont mind a cough, i cough all the time when i clear my 42 inch bong so im used to it. Me and my bud wash it down with water alot but mostly beer here lately. It kinda makes the beer taste funny sometimes, depends on what the smoke is like, how much flavor is in your mouth, etc. It does help your buzz out though and cools your throat.

try milk dude.. thats what your supposed to drink if you eat hot peppers and stuff.. it seems like a cold glass of milk would feel good after an excessively big bong hit

Milk works for hot peppers because it doesn't roll over the oils from the peppers in your mouth like water or anything water based does. I don't really think it would do much for throat burn from smoking. The only thing that would work instantly would be sore throat spray. That stuff pretty much numbs your throat on contact.

yeah, i'm kinda with vyse on the spray thing. halls mentholyptus or whatever cough drops are good too. anything thick, cold, and smooth, like milk helps. Shotgunning a cold beer will numb that shit right up too, and get you crossfaded, so that's my throatburn killer of choice.

Like someone else said..the throat spray or cough drops. Somethign that would numb your throat would be good. Maybe a shot of whiskey.
