| Please help me out, I feel so sick.
Alright, so I'll go into as much detail, but I'll keep it short (I know your attention spands). Anyways, I have been smoking on an once-twice a week basis (on the weekend) for about 2-3 months. I usually do two to three joints with a two or so friends, and the weed is, in my opinion, good. Now here lyes the problem. When I smoke a joint, or hit an acrylic/glass piece, I don't feel sick at all. But every time I do a dry piece made of a gatorade bottle (tried it twice) or a gravity bong from a water bottle (4-5 times), I get really really really sick. The problem is I am not sure of the extent of the sickness. I feel a very nice buzz, like when I am high, but I also feel like I am about to throw up (yet I never actually do throw up). It feels like there an ocean of throw-up in my throat, crashing against the walls of my throat as the tide of nausea sets in. It is very uncomfortable and not at all enjoyable. I have gotten really fucked up before and not feeled the sickness when I did a glass pipe, but everytime I do something out of plastic, I always get sick. Now, I never let any of the plastic melt and I use tin-foil to ensure it, but I constantly get the sick feeling. I have had at least 6 different friends (ranging from light-weight smokers, to die hard stoners) do it and none of them report the same problem I am having. I don't know what to do. I love smoking and joints can provide me with a mediocre high, but nothing that a gravity bong can do. Plus, my friends lost his piece so I can only smoke joints for right now. I am very appreciative of any help you can give me. Thanks. |

Get a cheap acrylic/glass bong, or at least one of moderate size. I personally have a 10 inch glass mushroom bong ( http://forum.grasscity.com/photopost...hroombong2.jpg , same one as in my sig) and a 3 foot acrylic bong named Frankenbong (as it's made of two seperate bongs). I love a G-Bong as much as the next dude, but a normal bong will accomplish the same thing. I've found joints have stopped getting me as high, too. I really don't know why you would get sick from plastic. I do know I often notice a weird taste when hitting a plastic bong... with or without water, and I could see how some people may be more sensitive to it, but it's never bothered me. All I can say is, at least for a Gravity bong... G-Bong hits are ass kickers, man. You may just be taking in too much smoke in one hit, considering how long you've smoked. I've been doing it for years, and I can still go in to a full on coughing fit from a good gravity bong hit. All in all, the best and most obvious thing you could do is just not use plastic. If you get a 1.5 foot + bong, trust me, all you're troubles will be taken care of.

Thanks for the help, I appreciate the quick response. Anyways, I didn't make it clear and I apologize for that, but the gravity bong I used was like homemade, out of a water bottle, not like a plastic manufactured bong that someone would buy (I think the they are made of different plastics btw). I have done a few hits of Salvia off of a plastic bong and I was fine (although Salvia and weed are pretty different). So I don't know what the problem is. Somebody told me that maybe I was just not used to all the smoke and I needed to pace myself, but I have tried 4-5 gravity bongs and I constantly get sick. Anymore help is appreciated Last edited by scissorcannon; 10-22-2006 at 01:08 AM. |

It probably doesnt matter if you aren't melting the plastic... you are heating up the area around it a lot, and that may release fumes. Also, you are using tinfoil which is also extremely bad for your lungs. Clearly there is a difference between the glass and the plastic, and we know plastic is bad and glass is completely safe - so stick to glass. Whenever you smoke and get nauseous or sick or like you are gonna throw up - you did something VERY VERY wrong. Never smoke out of a plastic bottle again. You probably inhaled a lot of toxic fumes and may have borderline-escaped a trip to the hospital ER.

Alright, that all makes pretty good sense. Especially about the whole fire not having to actually burn the plastic to release fumes. The only thing I can't get over is that like 7 other people have done it with me and none of them have ever gotten sick off of it. Oh well, I guess it doesn't matter. Thanks.
