Just in case you haven't run across this stuff, there is an organic,

biodegradeable cleaner that removes bong water scum, gunk, film, etc. from your bong

called De-Solv-It. You might find it at Walmart and other stores.

If you can't find it, you can get some from the web site

www.orange-sol.com

It is citrus-based but not like any other of those weak orange scented

cleaners on the market.

This stuff was used on birds and other wildlife during recovery of the

Alaska oil spill with no bad side effects and great results.

I let my bong soak for a while with a little of this stuff and water,

and the scum and smell are gone.

Of course, some people don't want to clean their bong, but I can't

have the smell around. And, man, don't they smell?

Anybody else have a good bong cleaner/method?

I find the best thing for cleaning glass pieces is boiling water. Just put it in a container with boiling water and leave it for a bit... it loosens all the shit so you can just wipe it off.

that's only if the glass is somewhat cold. if you make your piece warmer gradually, nothing should happen.

There are a few different methods that I've used when cleaning bongs.

First off, there's the tryed and true method of just using your hands and a little elbow polish to get into those tough spots. I still use an acrylic bong on occasion, and this is the only way I clean it. Using any type of solvent or cleaner will eat through the plastic and destroy it.

For larger glass waterpipes and the such, that aren't as easy to clean with a tool, I usually use some sort of granulated mixture that will scrape the resin from the inside. Specialized bong cleaners that are sold in shops work great, but they charge you $8 per small little bottle. I've found that you can mix rubbing alcohol and salt (table salt or sea salt) together and create a cleaner with similar properties for about $1.50. It is really a personal preference.

As far as boiling glass goes, we've boiled a few small glass pipes before and it worked alright. The problem is, however, that to boil a large bong you will need a HUGE pot of water

Most of those sleaners are just rubbing alcohol and Orange pumice hand cleaner with colour(the same stuff the piggies let you use to get the ink off your hands when they print you(personal experience). I just mix some of that kinda hand cleaner with rubbing alcohol.... about 1/4 of the price of "Orange Chronic"(TM?) water pipe cleaner.

99% isopropyl alcohol and iodized table salt

can't beat the efficiency of this as well as it's simplicity.

and it's unbelievably cheap, bottles got 1.50 and two huge things of salt for a dollar.

This si what my friend recently told me.. I used to buy 4:20 cleaner when we had headshops around here. Then I find out pretty mych all it is is 99%, epsom salt, and Oxy clean..

So the alcohol an salt method can be used on bubblers an pipes too? As far as taste, what just rinse the piece out real good?..any harmful elements?

yea. for bubs, you can just pour the alcohol and salt into it, plug the holes and shake. for pipes, the best method is to put alcohol and salt into a ziplock bag, then put the pipe in, close it, and shake that for a while. just make sure to rinse it all out when your done.

I own several roor and hurricane bongs. Currently I own one orange label w/ perc tree, one green label icemaster, and a red label lil sista, as well as a hurricane 1000 and a hurricane 250.
