There is macro, auto macro and super macro. what is auto macro and does super macro take closer pics or better quality pics? I have always wanted to take great macro pics and will have plenty to post soon.

1) don't have the camera yet 2) I haven't seen a camera with all three on it Trust me if I had the chance to try all three I would, anyways I found out what super macro is but still don't know what auto macro is. I also found a camera with digital macro, is that just normal macro? I would love it if anybody with a camera could help me out. oh and of course thanks to sh4d0ws for that in depth response, helped a bunch.

the different names mean different things on different cameras. all that 'macro' means in the camera world is a lens (or a setting on a lens) that allows the elements to be arranged so as to retain focusing ability closer. (ie. the focus group is further away from the CCD/film of the camera, extension tubes on SLRs/large format) cameras serve the same purpose. http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c4...i/DSC_0555.jpg that picture was taken with my d70 and a nikkor 60mm lens. that's pretty fucking close, and it could be even closer, but the flash would be cut off by the lens - leaving a big shadow. extension tubes would get me even closer. now for the purpose of a point & shoot camera, all the macro settings mean is you'll be enabled to focus closer at your subject. super macro might mean even closer settings... auto macro might adjust depending on how close you are, or it might let you retain autofocus while shooting macro. depends on the camera. fuck that made no sense. I tried! |

thanks... I understand. man it would be nice to have a camera like yours...someday for sure. I love taking pictures and I love the way bud looks so you put them togeather and you get macro photography. I have 13 different strains collected so far and plan on taking pics of them all.
