White Lighter Bad Luck???

No, I have no problem with white lighters. It's a colour. It has no malicious intent, and it's not capable of causing 'bad luck'. Bad luck isn't luck at all, it's merely you not taking necessary precautions or being careful, or sometimes just coincidence. Unless the thing causing bad luck has intent to do so, and is physically trying to do you ill (which means it's probably an animal or a person, which isn't luck at all) it's just stupid. You really do generate your own luck by being careful and productive, and a lighter has nothing to do with anything. It's a stupid tradition/superstition. I'd love to hear the multitude of stories that exist in which disaster strikes with the absence of a white lighter. It's a fucking colour, don't let your lives be ruled by it.

White? I don't know if I have ever heard of white as being bad luck. Yellow on the other hand I believe is bad luck. The reason I heard of Yellow being bad luck is because that was the color of BIC lighter that was found with Jimi Hendrix after he died.

I had never heard that untill about two summers ago and up untill about a year ago I just never bought a yellow lighter, say out of respect for Jimi and why press fate, you know what I'm saying?

Anywho, one day I was driving back from work when I got pulled over by a pig and it was because he "Thought I wasn't wearing my seat belt" Bullshit! With no reasonable cause he had me step out of my car so he could take a look around inside. I asked if I could have a cig. and he said sure just stand over on the side of the road. I pulled out my pack and my lighter which somehow was now yellow.

I asked my co-worker the next day if he had my BIC still and he said he left it at home but he purposely didn't take the yellow one back because it was yellow and he didn't want bad luck. Somehow when I was working my co-worker and I switched lighters and forgot to trade back. I had given him my Flick your BIC lighter with tie dye design and he gave me his yellow lighter. Fucker, for passing bad luck on me. (last time I use a yellow ever!)

He didn't find my shit but he did give me a fix-it ticket for my licensece plate light bulb that was out. He's a fucker too!

(I've never used a white lighter before but now I think I'll stick away from them as well)

So i did a little research, and i figured i'd put this one to rest for yall.



Supposedly, this myth has roots with three legendary rockers. Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix. I guess they all died around 27, and in the reports they all supposedly had a white lighter on them. Hence the whole, white lighter - bad luck thing.


If you ask me though, White lighters are good luck. White has always signified purity and innocence, so how could that be bad luck?


And as for the whole death thing, It's fuckin inevitable. The sooner we realize we are all going to die, the sooner we can all start living.

Death is only the beginning my friends. So white lighter - Karma's unending ability to make us all stop and think.

For those of you with horror stories about white lighters, didn't anything good come to fruition after the bad? We're all so ready to focus on the negative, we forget the good stuff easily.

Just to reiterate: BIC lighters did not exist during the lifetimes of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and Jim Morrison.....the product came out in 1973.

well one day i was having a bunch of badluck, dropped like 0.4 of weed and that was all we had, and so i threw the white lighter because i knew it was badluck, and i was walking and about 40 minutes i found a pack of ciggaretes on the ground, it was opened but only like 2 were gone and they werent dirty or anything.

alright so im smoking one day with a bunch of kids where high and i walk into cumbies b4 this the day was going great so i buy a gatorade and walk up to the register. well when clerk looked away i took a lighter not realizing what color it is. i get out side and im like look what i got. there like dude its white and im like shit so we walk up the road and blow it up well this is where the night goes bad. get back to my house and my friends and i wanted to pack a bowl we just picked up 2gs and we go outside to pack the bowl but its dark out. well my friend handed my other friend the weed but the bag was inside out (this is where it all goes wrong) well my friend of course spills the weed and we cant find it i call up these two girls and im like come over my house so they do and where like us hould smoke us up and this one bitch is like nah so they leave take into consideration this is like 4 years back. well my friend texts these girls saying we got vodka and shit well the text doesnt send to the girls.....it sends to the other kids mom so she texts back and shes like what?!?! she picks her kid up now i cant chill with him haha damn you white lighter!

Intentionally stealing a lighter is bag luck IMO. considering that its not even a dollar for a bic, it shouldnt be that difficult to just pick up a pack of 20 the next time you're at the wal mart.

plus when i tell people that they tend to not steal my fucking lighters.

I have never heard of a white lighter being bad luck.

I have heard of a red bic being bad luck and I am not a believer in it. I honestly dont think that a lighter controls the outcome or the future of whats to come.
