My mom just went through my brothers room

So while my bro was at school today my mom decides she is going to search apparently every inch of his room. She knows he has smoked in the past because a couple months ago she found a "pot pipe" and around that same time my friends mom found he and a couple friends pretty fucked on dramamine. All in all I don't think he was in too much trouble. But just now my dad calls me and says what happened today and said she had found 12 things and he asked if any of the things were mine. Including two small plants that were hardly started, seeds, pieces, lightbulb vap, homemade bong, baggies and of course mj. Oh also some kind of pills. So I think my dad is mainly not happy about the pills but my mom seems to be pretty tired of this and they are drug testing him. They want to check if he has been smoking recently which I'm sure he has so he's in trouble basically. I hope they're not too mad because I'm planning to go home in a couple days. It really sucks though for me too.

Honestly I never even talked to my brother about smoking. We each know the other smokes but I never talked to him because I knew he was pretty careless and that he would get in trouble eventually so I didnt want to be like giving him weed and then he gets in trouble and my mom finds out I've known. I feel like it's kind of selfish but i mean it's not like I would have ignored him if he said something to me about it.

What do they think the test is going to prove? Obviously he smokes; it just doesn't make sense to me to drug-test someone who clearly smokes weed.

There probably checking for other shit too, seeing as he had pills as well. When I get tested, it's not to see if I'm still smoking, it's to see if I'm doing anything else.

Anyone who disrespects you by breaking into your room and forcing you to take a drug test is way past being a good parent. Happened to my cousin. Parents called the cops when they found he had weed. Then they sent him to a military style camp. It did nothing but make him bitter toward his parents and introduce him to harder drugs.

Maybe if he was living on his own, yeah...but if he's still living at home and growing weed in his bedroom, his parents have all the right in the world to search it. It's their house and if they don't want illegal grow operations in it, that's up to them.

If you're still living at home you gotta respect your folks. My parents caught me smoking in the garage and I have promised since not to smoke at home, and now I don't. Only when i'm away from the house.

Yeah guys my brother obviously lives with my parents and is underage so I don't blame my mom for going through his room. Like I said he has been caught at least twice before that I know of. I dont know what promted her to do so this time, if anything. The cool thing about my mom though is that my bro won't become bitter toward her because she lets things go easily. So even though she may have taken the internet/ phone away (maybe other things too) I know she is taking him to an art exhibit today so luckily stuff like that doesn't cause long term problems.

its not at all absurd to be allowed to smoke at home. my parents hate that i smoke but they would rather me smoke at home in my backyard than driving around and toking like i used to do... If some parents weren't so busy being hard asses, they would realize that kids will do what they want and no punishment will stop them. i mean ya they have a right to test for other drugs and be mad it is their home but if they really cared about their kid they would want them to be safe and talk to them and rap on what is bad about what they are doing instead of playing taskmaster and cracking the whip anytime they see an empty baggy
