Bad Times (Car Accident + Bullshit)

Hey fellow blades, been having a rough summer thus far and this week is no exception.

After work one night I went to chill at a friends house and smoked a few bong loads and played some guitar while chillin on his deck. I have been having problems with my brakes recently and on the way home when I hit them my car swerved instead of stopping and I was pumping them to try to slow down but I still skidded sideways into a road sign about inches away from a light post, I could have probably totaled my car, instead I just got a minor dent in the front from the sign.

I knew that my brake fluid had to be the problem but i had just neglected to check it and refill it because I am too lazy. So now my dad is all pissed at me for not checking it and having an accident and he is probably going to make my life miserable for the next couple weeks too.

Why does life suck so much right now for me? I am broke, I have no weed, my car is fucked up and now looks like a piece of shit with the dent in the front.

My dad just keeps blaming it on me, when it really wasn't my fault that my car is a piece of shit and has a brake fluid leak. Then he gets on me about not picking up my new prescription for my Prozac and how I haven't gotten my glasses fixed, the right side snapped off in my hands when I was cleaning them, piece of shit glasses too.

Well, I have a car that is a piece of shit. I always check brake fluid, oil, Anti-Freeze, and Power Steering Fluid. I have to check it every few days. It is in a way your fault if you are the primary driver and neglected to check it. Laziness is not an excuse, however I do feel bad for your situation. That sucks. Good thing you didn't crash into a car, you easily could of if they fucked up at a different time.

dude
its brake fluid

i read the above as "i know i should have but i didnt, and wow i didnt stop, now im gonna bitch and moan"

here in new zealand you can buy a running car for fifty bucks, you can be damn sure the brakes work though, there just is no excuse for not maintaining your brake lines, what if it had been a small child and not a pole, you would be charged with vehicular manslaughter, or reckless driving causing death (not sure of the charges in usa, you guys shud have it covered you seem to sue over a cold breeze).

if you are broke there are other ways around fixing your brakes,
find a friend who is mechanically minded, on 90% of cars you only undo a grand total of EIGHT bolts to do the front brakes, thats including getting the wheel off. Make sure they actually know what they are doing!!

go to a wrecker and get second hand parts for the car (NOT PADS). you can get rotors and drums here really cheap, never get brake pads the long exposure to water common in open yards destroys the compound in the friction material.

source your own brake pads, go to a local car parts shop (Repco?) and order your own brake pads ! you can get brand new ones for about 20 bucks if you shop around just make sure they are OEM spec.

Brake fluid doesnt just disapear. there is a leak somewhere, spend twenty minutes finding it (it'l most likely be a pipe joiner loose), and never worry again.

Sorry if i seemed a lil harsh but you do seem like ya need to break this bad luck cycle, go be pro-active.
And hey while your out sussing out your brakes, the wreckers should have a pretty mean deal on a bonnet!

I know it sounds dumb but i recently got stuck in a similar thing, really similar actually except it was a 450hp motor and me being to lazy to change supercharger belts, i had to go find a new washer bottle,RH guard, bonnet, re-do all the ABS brakelines (ten of the fuckers!), all because i didnt do a twenty minute job. I started to get all shitty about it then thought fuck it, im gonna make sure this shit never happens again. Two days later and the car is complete with a brand new belt catcher that i welded up shud anything similar happen again.! brought a big smile back to my dial

the kiwi makes sense, you've got to take responsibility for your shit man

Your car may be a piece of crap but it'll get you around if you look after it, and when it does that you'll be able to complete your degree or whatever it is you're doing..

then you'll be

Sounds like a bad summer so far, but it's not the end of the world A little dent, no weed, angry father for a couple weeks... it'll all be over in a couple of weeks. No biggie
