Do you live in your moms house?

Did you have prior knowledge that she does not approve of marijuana smoking and would not be happy with you doing it in her house?

If your going to be holding a large glass collection, it's wise to make sure everyone else in the house is cool with it, Your mom is probably thinking she just did you a huge favour, Get a pipe, maybe a bubbler and keep the bongs for when you got your own place.

Clearly that justifies breaking $700 worth of someone's property. If she was so dead-set against it, she could have told him to pack up and leave/sell the pieces. I have a feeling this was some rage-filled incident, though. The sad thing is that she probably truly thinks she's doing you a favour.

If it were me, I'd be out of the house the next day, moved out.

thats fucked up man, though if my mum was totally anti weed (which she isn't) - i wouldn't spend $700 on bongs and keep them in her house.

invest in acrylics, cheaper and harder to break.

I wouldn't say it's necessarily "justifiable".

It's just an issue of considering the consequences before you do something.

When a parent strongly disapproves of weed, and you're still living under their roof, you aren't going to have the same freedoms you'd have at your own place.

Knowing your parents disapprove, spending 700 dollars on glass and keeping it in their house, then expecting them to just let it slide if they find it? Well, that's a little naive if you ask me.

Well is she against smoking? I don't smoke when Im home because my mom and dad don't approve. And for the month or so I live under their roof, I am sober.

Maybe it's just me, but if I were to spend $700 on glass I wouldn't expect my mother breaking them to be a particularly likely scenario (despite her anti-drug nature), so I'd spend the money regardless. Is glass-breaking that common that you'd deem him naive? Unless she explicitly warned him about this before, he has my complete sympathies as there were plenty of more viable options the mother could have taken to deal with this. This isn't an all-or-nothing situation in which the only two options are to let it slide or make like a psychotic lunatic and break personal property.
