Chicago Bulls player Noah gets fined for marijuana

MIAMI (Reuters) - Chicago Bulls basketball player Joakim Noah, son of former French Open tennis champion Yannick Noah, has agreed to serve six months probation and pay a $200 fine after being charged with marijuana possession in Florida, the State Attorney's office said on Thursday.
Police in Gainesville, Florida, where Noah starred on two national collegiate championship teams with the University of Florida, said he was charged on Sunday after being found in possession of an open container of alcohol and less than 20 grams of marijuana, both misdemeanor offenses.
As a first time offender he was eligible for a deferred prosecution agreement, said Spencer Mann of the State Attorney's office in Gainesville.
"He was very remorseful, regretted that he had put himself in a position that caused him being charged and very much wanted to resolve it," Mann said.
Under terms of the agreement reached late on Tuesday, he said the charges against Noah would be dropped and the case closed provided he did not violate any local, state or federal laws in the next six months.
Noah helped carry the Florida Gators to national college championships in 2006 and 2007 and was taken by the Bulls with the ninth selection in the 2007 National Basketball Association draft.

haha that's funny. I go to florida state, but a few of my buddies that go to university of florida were playing basketball at the intramural court one day and joakim noah was up there with a few of his buddies and he asked my friends for some joint papers lol.

What kind of dick cop charges a star player on a back to back national championship team. Guess someone doesn't watch basketball. Not really surprised he smokes weed, kinda has a pothead look to him if you didn't know he was in the nba.
