[editted-in preface]~ please dont respond to just the original post. read on a little bit first. it will save us alot of repetition, and your questions or points may already be answered or muted/nulified if you read on.... you might even pick up a few pieces of really useful information to augment your lives with. also, please be familiar with this symbol " ? ". it means it's a question, not a statement. that said, My main DILEMMA these days is..... food. or rather, not-food. i'm now conscious of what i put in my body and the cumulative effects of stuff. i'm vigilant on the labels, and generally take a mix of advice from Ayurveda (MOST RECCOMENDED), eating for your blood-type (once i find out which mine is), eating as per your geographical location, and the best advice, just eating what you feel like from a healthy selection of natural foods. i look into what some of the stuff they add to food is all about.... and even if its some lie that these things are bad for you (honestly though, what reason is there for going to such lengths to lie about this stuff), then it's still wise to er on the side of caution and just not take them in. well... here's where the dilema lives... the worst things, i know will rot your brain, shaft your natural defences, cause addictions, and all sorts of nasty shit like that.... and although i'm not eating this crap anymore... the people around me, the people i live with... still do... and i see them deteriorating. its really upseting, watching people harm themselves. i've told them, i've advised them, i've reasoned with them..... but they remain "blissfully" ignorant. is it because their brains have already been rotted away sufficiently so as to prevent them from taking in details? do i need to use techniques to get them to emotionally understand rather than intelectually? do i need to scream it to all three parts of their brain at once like the mind controllers on tv do all the time? i'd rather not stoop to intentional manipulations. i liked the notion that we all had functional rational minds that could take in information however it was presented and make informed choices for myself.... but still.... they eat that crap thats fucking them over.... and the dilema very succinctly is..... should i just constantly dump all the food that is bad for them until they get the message, i will bear the brunt of their hate until they realise it is for their own good? i imagine i will be risking violence upon my person for this... but see little other recourse to save them and what chance they have of having a functioning brain in 20 years time. should i start dumping nearly everything in the house, at least the stuff that contains aspartame and ascesulfame k? maybe once i am earnin enough to replace it all...... hurts to see it. You should let them live their lives. I say this because you wish the same freedom to live your own. You have told them the facts and yet they still do not want to change. It is up to them to realize the damaging effects that the food they digest lay upon their bodies. Respect their wishes and sooner or later they will come around.

man seriously if you lived with me and tried to do that ide prolly punch you in the head. you say you understand youll probably come to physical harm. if you did it to me a 2nd time and i was baked getting some food, you wouldnt live for a 3rd time. Its there lives, you cant make there decisions for them.

wow, a lot of hate about this subject.
I'd say...definitely don't throw their food away but just try to educate them. show them how much better you feel now that you eat healthy. I know when I used to eat junk food all the time I felt awful...and once I started eating healthy...I felt a ton better. Just show them healthy food doesn't have to taste gross and that it benefits them greatly. |

that's actually quite funny given that the folks who put the shit in our food in the first place have very strong ties with the nazis.

Digit- I watched all the videos, very interesting stuff. I have been trying to change what I eat and drink for awhile now, and this just gives me even better reason to. I do have a couple of questions though... 1) Sounds like aspartame is pretty common in drinks. Do you have to pretty much only drink water? 2) Do you avoid all fast food? 3) What are the main things you look for on a label to avoid? I have a few others but can't remember them at the time, if I think of them, I'll post em.

Now I'm begining to understand more over your situtation. I still say you don't throw away their food. But show them the videos with other people that you know that are health concious like you. Aspertame causes cancer and that is no good. Try making a intervention where they will be forced to realize the results of their eating said foods. Food can be like heroin in the way you don't know how bad it is until someone shows you.

If you want the freedom to ingest carcinogenic smoke from cigarettes and smoke an illegal substance, give everyone else the same freedom to ingest what they want. Especially with your condition (whatever it is, possibly asthma?), you have NO ROOM to bitch at anyone else about what they put in their bodies.
Of all people, I thought smokers were the one that were the most "hey, your life, live it how you want, I'm living mine how I want" of them all. People telling others what to do with their bodies just pisses me off beyond belief. Yes, I smoke cigarettes from time to time. I smoke bud a couple times a week. I also drink alcohol a couple times a week. Go ahead and tell me how this affects you? Oh, that's right, it doesn't. Same goes for what your friends eat.

YOU JUST DONT KNOW WHATS IN IT!!!! sugar. SUGAR TOO!??!? yup. if fucks with your imune system. if u got a sweet tooth, then learn where the natural sweetness is. honey is your first stop. it actually augments your imune system rather than acting like taking a scouring brush to it. but go easy on it, you can over do it. start getting handy with the search engines to learn more. educate yourself so you may educate others. red meat... i know this is a tough addiction to beat. but it's well worth it, for the sake of both your brain and bowels. factory chicken that's anything but free range. they put antibiotics in them constantly and are ever upping the dose and types to deal with all the super bugs the chicks get. this can have very serious consequences for your ability to fight of disease, and not just you personally, this very directly ripples out to everyone each time you buy. not to mention all the hate and cruelty you'd be ingesting. you are what you eat. lol. tuna and farmed salmon. i only just recently heard about the tuna... aparently high levels of mercury. the salmon is a different story. i know guys who work at the farms.... you know that lovely pink salmon is .... in nature, thats from eating prawns (yummy), but in farms, its from eating chemical dye thats known to cause cancer... not just in you, butt he fish... they chuck away loads with rediculous amounts of massive tumours. up to you how many of those you take on board. i reccomend paying attention to the one's that can save your brain first, so you can make your own mind up on the rest later. Thanks for the great answer, I'd plus rep you if I could. That info will be a great start, and it actually doesn't look like it will be too hard to do (other than the red meat) I'll definetly do some research on my own about the topic but I figured since you seemed to know about it and I knew nothing about it, this thread would be a good place to start.
