A HOMELESS person just ruined my good vibes...

I was out at walmart picking up some groceries and as I leave there was a homeless person on the corner that said: "Disabled Vet. Homeless. Need Work Bad. Help"

I was stopped at the light and my stomach just CRINGES. I'm sitting there contemplating giving the poor guy some money. I dont have much, and what I do, was a loan from my mom. I really didnt have any to spare. As I drove off I got butterflies in my stomach and just wanted to turn around and give him some money. The streets were busy and I kept on going all the while wishing I had some extra money that I could spare.

I dont know what it was, but I just felt a terrible amount of pain inside. As i'm driving back to my dorm the feeling just gets worse and I break out a few tears for the guy. I just had this horrible feeling like I was him in his shoes. I felt so bad.

I've meet homeless people before, and many times its just people who have had a hard life or just had things go wrong for them. Seems like i just dont believe in god much anymore, but on my way home, I made a promise to.....god, the higher powers, myself, whatever you want to call it, that when I get some more money and I have some I can spare the next person I will share the good will with. It may not be much, but I promised to do something.

I was having a fucking awesome day and just in the best mood i've been in for a long time and now its gone. I'm not saying its bad and i'm not ragging on the homeless person. It's just that I felt so connected at that moment.

I wish there was something I could have done. It's sad how some of us really have it so good and others really have nothing. He was homeless, and at the same time, there was a big cloudburst just about to go over that was cold as ice. ...i just feel bad.

I plan to uphold this pledge that I made at all costs in the future.

*some people post signs and dont mean it, while others really dont have anything* I really feel for those that don't fake it.

I thought i'd share.

lmao. did you see the southpark yesterday? Homeless people invade the town asking for change(kinda a parody to the new dawn of the dead), my favorite is "Oh no! One of them is a veteran, we have to give him some"

But, idk...maybe a sign leading up to something...idk..it just felt really weird...coincidence?

But, despite last nights episode..i really did feel for this guy.

I give hobos money too much.
They probably aren't going to use my change for anything more productive than a coffee.

i live in a town infested with fucking bums.

you get desensitized to it, i dont even turn my head anymore when they ask for change.

My favorite quote is from Michael Jordan, after a reporter asked him why his rich-ass didnt give a bum any change.

Michael Jordan replies, "If he can say, 'Can i have some spare change', then he can also choose to say, 'Can i take your order?'."

right on Mike, right on.

yea right, as if someone's going to just throw a job application at him from their car.

that "need work" is complete bullshit.

he knows that no one is going to give him a job with him just sitting on the fucking corner taking up space.

Many truly arent worth it and some truly are.

In my raising I had a gay friend who was homeless for a long time. He ended up being one of my best friends. Through him, he tought me to "see" more than most. Theres some truly awesome homeless people out there. I"ve hung and talked to several due to this guy i met back home and it has changed the way i view a lot of things. Through him i met many. He often took in those that nobody else would. Needless to say, he got screwed a few times, but more often then not, they were truly great people.

Just being able to sit down and talk with them, hear their experiences, what some of them have actuallly been through can be a life changing event and really change your views on things. At one point he had 2 people living in his small house. While living there they got a job in town to help pay for things in his house and prettymuch cooked him dinner and cleaned his house every day for him in return. They were truly good people. Yes, they drank and so did this guy...but, did I mention they got jobs? We would all pitch in for a bottle and have a good time and share what we had if we had some to spare.

there really are some awesome people out there that are just hidden under a cover most people cant see through.s

like one of my favorite songs say......

" What if he's an angel sent here from heaven
And he's making certain that you're doing your best
To take the time to help one another
Brother are you going to pass that test
You can go on with your day to day
Trying to forget what you saw in his face
Knowing deep down it could have been his saving grace
What if he's an angel...."

i'll tear up when i think about this song..

they may not be worth it..but you cant say its your fault and you didnt try to help...

Karma giveth...karma taketh away...

what can I say...i give ppl the benefit of the doubt till they prove otherwise usually...(unless is some crack whore...)..if somebody looks like a decent person....ya know...

what can I say...I have a bit of a heart left.

Its america. So many of us have so much...while others done even have a home...

if they arent spending it on booze or drugs....whats a few minutes out of your day..or a few dollars out of your wallet?

so many people are so selfish and numb to others........yet another reason why i lose faith in society. it really makes me sad.

You have a good heart; but be careful, it can lead you to getting screwed over...

Having said that, i agree with the Michael Jordan quote as stated above....
We've all seen the 2020 reports about how they beg for money and jump into their mercedes when it's all said and done...
Yet, we all know they aren't all like that....... However, if I earned about $50-70 in a day, i'd go to walmart (let the bashing begin) and buy this list:
- 1 Can of Gillette Shaving Gel; with Aloe and Vitamin E for skin rejuvination ($3?)
- 1 Pack of disposable shavers; ($3?)
- 1 Cheap brush/comb ($5)
- 1 Pair of decent pants ($20)
- 1 Decent shirt ($20)

And then go to the McDonalds inside and ask for an application and apply within the walmart itself.... i mean c'mon, in a single day they could easily turn their lives around....

I'm glad to hear though, that someone like yourself is out there caring for the average person.. someone has to.
