Ever just have something work out perfectly?
OK, so i had my license suspended for 3 months, from october 14 - january 14.
unfortunately, since i attend college, i still had to get to school everyday, and also work. so i chose to disobey my suspension and drive anyways/my girlfriend drove more than i did after a week or two, as she felt it was legally safer.
So one morning my gf says she's to sick to drive, so i drive. coming down a decent hill in bumber to bumper, barely moving traffic, my brakes just sink down, don't stop the car, and i tap another car infront of me.
I freak out because I have a suspended license, and just take off.
I had classes/finals reviews, so i went to class. came back into town and had two police business cards waiting for me at my house, one in my front door, one in my garage code thing.
So i accept that i'm going to jail for the day and probably paying WAYY to much money to the system.
I head down to the police station to turn myself in, talk to an officer and all that stuff.
They didn't even realize I had my license suspended until they were asking me some stuff and i told them(words of advice: never give the police more info they than are asking/you feel they need.)
So i don't go to jail/have to pay bail, i just get an I-bond which says if i don't go to court there will be a warrant out for my arrest. I got two tickets, a driving with a suspended license, and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
I show up to court, have my lawyer and everything(i work for a lawyer, so his buddy helped me out) and they call my name.
My lawyer walks up and talks to someone, walks to the back of the courtroom(where i'm standing) and says, "we're done for the day, let's go outside"
Apparently, since there was no witness, my failure to reduce speed ticket was thrown out....and the courthouse thought my license was valid(which they are mistaken about, i have documents from the sec. of state declaring my license suspended and all that jazz) and they threw out my suspended license ticket.
So basically I walked away from this ordeal the same as i went in.
Both tickets dropped, which would have cost me a SHITLOAD of money.
My lawyer says "this is an extremely rare error they have made here, you should feel very lucky. i'm pretty sure this is the last we will here of this case."
So now basically they have 90 days since my court date to realize their error, which is highly unlikely.
