So in counter to all these stories about cops being assholes, which they can be no doubt, I provide this tale of cops actually doing their goddamn jobs. When I was around 16, I was at my friends house. His parents were terrible people. They yelled at each other, drank, and they just couldn't function as people. So one night they start in on each other and the dad grabs my friend and holds a knife to his throat and says to the mom "I'll cut his throat and go to jail to get away from you, you terrible BITCH!" So I go outside and call 911. They ask for all the info and shit and everything seems like it's going to end up a murder scene instead of a attempted murder. Their neighbor came outside and asked me what was up. I was freaking out at the moment and he just pulls out his badge and tells me he's a cop and wants to help. So I tell him whats going on, he heads in to the house, somehow gets my friend away from his dad, and sends my friend outside. So we're waiting there, we hear his mom and dad screaming about invasion of property and police overstepping their boundaries. So the on-duty police arrive, take my friend's dad away for something or another I forget, and everything worked out as well as it could. So all of you thinking that cops will do anything to screw you over, remember that most cops will go into high risk situations to save you or someone that you care about. Oh and my apologies for the kind of not so happy story, I didn't wanna ruin anybodies high. I'm just frustrated with all the people saying cops are terrible.
Awesome story. Now that I'm not a little shit anymore I don't mind cops. They just run my information and let me go if I get pulled over. I'm polite and no issues. They don't bother me
They're just doing their job, you get good and bad cops Being a CO in prison would suck, having to put up with all that shit all the time
Cops Firemen, Federal Agents, Government workers, military are good people on a whole. Its the signular shit heads that give them a bad name. There like everyone else just trying to make a living. A good example is State Dept workers. I worked at US Embassys for 3 years. State Dept seems like some faceless organization but there filled with people who alot of times got there gig out of highschool found out they like it and still doing it 20 years later. How it is for ever profession. Now the IRS..cant say the same thing!
I have known/ know plenty (live in small town of county where 70%+ of the cops live) and even the "good" ones still do things that they arrest people for and are over all power hungry hypocrites lacking morals. Not only knowing this, I have had my rights violates by them plenty wether it is illegal search or being hit in front of other cops and non of them would admit it. Out of 8 cops not one fucker said anything. This is their biggest problem is their gang mentality and the fact they have a monopoly on force/violence. Fuck police, that is all. Edit: and by good I meant the family cops who are liked in the community.
Anybody with that amount of power will eventually abuse it...Just a matter of time for the most part, and like Egghead mentioned, that isn't even touching the mob mentality these guys have. I've encountered a lot of police all over the United States and only about three were decent guys, sure, I haven't met all of the police all over the country...But I've definitely met a lot of police throughout my travels. The only reasons people need/want police is for comfort, a comfort that isn't even guaranteed...Sure, shit played out right here, but I can come up with five to your one every time for when shit went downhill quick.
Yeah cops are dicks, they have that ability but usually it's because you either give them a look or you act like you didn't do anything wrong. They don't usually mess with you unless you're breaking a law of some kind or look suspicious. As for the 2nd one, please tell me why cops are to blame for psychos going overboard? Oh and we need police to lock away the people who commit murders for fun or because they have this issue where a blond girl in high school didn't like them so they kill blond girls. So while I respect your opinion, I don't see how it means cops shouldn't be respected or trusted.
