New York (CNN) -- CNN's Lou Dobbs is leaving the network, the anchor and commentator said Wednesday.

"Over the past six months, it has become increasingly clear that strong winds of change have begun buffeting this country and affecting all of us," Dobbs said during his 7 p.m. broadcast.

Dobbs, 64, said he had discussed the issue with CNN President Jonathan Klein, who agreed to release him from his contract and "that will enable me to pursue new opportunities."
He said he was considering "a number of opportunities and directions."

Lou Dobbs was one of the only news anchors I could listen to without thinking he was full of shit. Hopefully he stays in politics, we can't afford to lose any honest men.

It's not like he's going into hiding or anything, he's just leaving a corrupt corporate establishment for some other endeavor... probably politics.

Lou has always been fair and objective on the news. A lot of people dislike him for his views on illegal aliens and some even say that he sided with the "birthers". I hope Fox news picks up Lou. Now only if they will give airtime to Judge Napolitano's Freedom Watch.

Meh. Lou wasn't as horribly partisan as other media figures. I was trying to remember his position on marijuana and I came across this.
