The Netherlands is #10 in the world in adults prosecuted (per capita) in the world. Hardly a "cesspool" but that's a pretty high number imo. Especially considering there are virtually 0 drug arrests.

of course the good ole US is #1

First of all, I think they were talking specifically about Amsterdam.

Second, the US has 4.5 times as much adults prosecuted per capita as the Netherlands. Relative to us, the Netherlands definitely can't be considered a "cesspool".

Lastly, I'd bet there are some drug arrests, just not ones for possession of cannabis.

Exactly. I know its not good to quote the daily show but last week they did a whole thing about who is "news" and who is "commentary" and everyone that they named for "commentary" were people that we all know (hanity, o'reily, beck, fox and friends, ect.) and the "news" people no one had ever heard of. to be fair, i dont watch fox news, if it wasnt for the internet i wouldnt know who the other were either. But basically, because of this division, what'll happen is the "news" people will report something, the "commentary" people will blow it out of proportion and put spin on it, then the "news" will report that "people" or "analysts" are mad or upset about something. so they feed their own needs, perpetual "news" means theres never a slow news day.

I hear a lot of bicycles get stolen there. Apart from that the murder rate is lower than the uk and usa and you won't get arrested for smoking a plant, sounds good to me.

Weren't we talking about Amsterdam, not the Netherlands? Also, as G-MAN had said, many of those crimes are probably non-violent crimes. As far as murder rates go, it's lower than US and the UK and I'd bet you consider those places safe. Perhaps you should learn to read statistics before using them as sources.

you can get technical all you want, but amsterdam is the capitol of the country with the 10th highest CRIME RATE. for a standard human being these are not difficult dots to connect.
