Re: Maddow/Olbermann Invited to White House Chat with Obama, But Fox Isn't real news?

Are we still taking the media seriously?
It's just a coincidence that all these outfits are owned by a handful of corporations that also happen to be in bed with the government?

Quote:
The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum - even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there's free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate.
Quote:
[The "liberal media"] love to be denounced from the right, and the right loves to denounce them, because that makes them look like courageous defenders of freedom and independence while, in fact, they are imposing all of the presuppositions of the propaganda system.

This is the type of shit that gets onto FOX news. Rush must have felt like an idiot when he failed to read through the the obvious satire.

“Obama Thesis” Hoax

Rush Was Punked: Obama Thesisť Hoax

by Claudine Z 31 hours ago

It must have seemed so perfect. An obscure blogger unearths some pages of President Obama's college thesis. The report supposedly comes from big-time journalist Joe Klein of Time magazine. And the thesis has some real gems: like Obama's disdain for the Constitution.
The whole thing was nothing more than a satirical post on a humor blog. But Rush Limbaugh, who quoted from the supposed thesis on his radio show, sure wasn't laughing. Here's how it went down.
An unknown blogger picked up on a made-up post meant as a joke, which claimed that Joe Klein had gotten his hands on 10 pages of student Obama's college thesis. Rush Limbaugh jumped on it, which immediately sparked Web searches on "obama thesis."
Supposedly titled "Aristocracy Revisited," the excerpt revealed the president had "doubts" about the "so-called founders." Juicy. Except not true. Limbaugh discovered halfway through his show that he'd been had, but defended himself by saying basically the thesis felt true. Listen in to Rush's mea sorta culpa.
Joe Klein finally jumped in, and called the report "nonsense" on his Swampland blog, and the blogger who thought the hoax was real also apologized.
Let's hope someone kept their sense of humor in all this. Still, for a humble post to go from humor blog to major media outlet sure seems impressive. Someone ought to write their thesis on it. For real.

...we must have a different opinion of a one party system. a democracy wouldn't really work if this was the case.

People like you crack me up. You're so "informed" about Fox's lies, yet you know shit about the rest of the media's daily lies. You don't realize how much bigger a problem all the other networks are, which is why they focus so much attention on Fox. Its slight of hand, or a distraction.

If you had your way it would be one party rule in government AND media. Thats tyranny my friend.

Let me clear this up. The general consensus isn't that they're all badz0rz and in to get us. However, the collective greed and power hunger of them all adds up to a big cluster-fuck of bureaucratic tyranny. The "liberal" media was all over everything the Bush administration did about how much freedom it would take away, and the "conservative" media's opinion was that liberals that oppose Republican executive power were unamerican and would be the downfall of the nation.

Fast forward 8 years, and look what we have. The roles have entirely reversed. It's pure politicking. These people have absolutely no morals and absolutely no "ideals." The only ideals they have are as follow: raise money, get elected, give money to corporations.

If you can't see the obvious reversal of "ideals" then you are blind as a bat. Each side always plays a good game when they're in the "opposition" to a functional majority rule, but why wouldn't they? They know they get to oppose things they would normally approve(*cough* Obama's bank and auto bailout *cough*), publicly denounce their corporate benefactors(all the while getting more money from them), and sling all sorts of shit without having to worry about the threat of their hypocracy being revealed("they're finally standing up to their values" as Hannity said, while those in power are the hypocrites for doing what they've previously denounced). They get to do all this, because they know regardless of what they actually do, or what they will do when they get elected/reelected, they know they will get elected/reelected. Simple politicks.

What's more is that despite their doublespeak, they never, ever, ever take away government power. They can bitch and moan all they want about some fascist/socialist/communist agenda, but never do they actually reverse thee policies when they take control. PATRIOT act? Housing policies the Republicans scream bloody democrat over? War on Drugs? War period? Nope, none of this is ever opposed by either side. I'll reiterate this from another post: The only things they ever disagree on are the things everyone should agree they have no business discussing.

I highly recommend you watch that War Made Easy video someone posted. Actually, I beg you to. I watched it and while I learned nothing new myself, it did a damn good job of showing how "both sides" of the media are in bed with the Pentagon. "Both sides" of the media do what the central power tells them to. We have a purely state run media, and their only job beyond that is to create the illusion there isn't.

If your going to accuse someone of being wrong, at least ensure you are right. Fox "News" found this satirical story first and ran it as news. Limbaugh quoted Fox's inaccurate news, like the dumbass FOX affiliate he is. Rush may not be on Fox, but he did get his information from them.

Which if you remember is exactly what I said; "this is the kind of shit you can find on FOX news."

Rush Limbaugh and the Fox Nation Both Get Duped By Obama Thesis Hoax

Rush Limbaugh and the Fox Nation Both Get Duped By Obama Thesis Hoax | Politicususa.com

Today the Fox Nation and Rush Limbaugh ran with a quote from Barack Obama’s thesis while he was a student at Columbia today that the Founding Fathers did not allow for economic freedoms. It turns out that this was a satire/hoax, which was a fact that was initially lost on both of them.
The original story which had been running on the Fox Nation front page, a post by Michael Ledeen features this supposed quote from Obama’s thesis, “… the Constitution allows for many things, but what it does not allow is the most revealing. The so-called Founders did not allow for economic freedom. While political freedom is supposedly a cornerstone of the document, the distribution of wealth is not even mentioned. While many believed that the new Constitution gave them liberty, it instead fitted them with the shackles of hypocrisy.”
Rush Limbaugh jumped on the quote on his radio show today..

Whoa slow down on speaking for me thanks. I hold none of the beliefs you just threw at me. Do you have any thoughts of your own to share?

I get my news primarily from the BBC, which is a bit better than FOX or NBC. I realize how the media works, and it is up to the individual to seek out news from a variety of outlets, and sift through the bias to what you believe is true.

Yet another conspiracy from FOX with the usual lack of evidence. New Beck Conspiracy Theory: Obama is going to Use OnStar to Spy on Americans | Politicususa.com
New Beck Conspiracy Theory: Obama is going to Use OnStar to Spy on Americans
Submitted by jmeasley on Thu, 10/22/2009 - 14:40.

On his radio show today Glenn Beck unveiled his latest conspiracy theory that the Obama administration is going to use Onstar to spy on Americans and enforce martial law. He said OnStar is, “fantastic technology if you trust the people whose hands are controlling that technology.” OnStar is now part of the vast Obama conspiracy.

Here is the audio courtesy of Media Matters:

...If OnStar is a separate company that was involved in the bailout, then how is the government controlling them? Onstar’s client, GM was bailed out, so according to Beck this means that OnStar is also under the thumb of the Obama administration. This is what his whole theory hinges on. I hate to tell Glenn this, but the government already has better technology than OnStar. They can watch any car they want...

Dan rather replaced Walter Cronkite for CBS news, and i don't think that's a little know fact. I can only assume that was sarcasm, meant to point out FOX is not the only Biased News station.

Little known fact: No one disagrees, most people know that all news is biased. That does nothing to improve the case for fox.
