Yes I'm a bit disappointed that troops will remain in Iraq, though their will not be as many as currently deployed in Iraq, and Iraq will simply become one of the many other nations we have bases stationed at, nothing we can do about it, it happens after every war.
As far as reinstating the draft goes, you have to have some sort of excuse as to why you would initiate the draft. Historically we have instated the draft in the face of a large war, whereas we are in relative peace time at the moment, that is to say there is no all out war, only smaller tactical operations spread out. In recent history, this is foreign policy hawks who are eager to invade other countries. While Obama has not come out with any big change in foreign policy in regards to troop deployment that would require a draft (as in, he hasn't come out saying he wants to invade anyone else), I realize it is still relatively short in his presidency. Whereas on the other hand, McCain would have maintained troop levels in Iraq and he is the bigger foreign policy hawk of the two, so if I'm worried about anyone reinstating the draft, it is the man who shoots then ask questions later.
And in regards to spending, it's not as if Obama is trying to hide the costs of his plans, he's upfront about how his budget, recovery act, loans to GM & Chrystler, etc are all very expensive. While you may not agree with his idea of stimulus, I would much rather have the president that is honest about how much he spends instead of the Neo-con who touts smaller government yet increases the militarys budget year after year.
Don't try to position me as some kind of fool simply because you are vocally against Obama, I don't agree with a lot of things he has done but I am not going to sit back and criticize him as if some other viable presidential candidate could have done any better.
