ehh modding for power or looks? you'll have to spend good amount of money to make a civic go fast. you're not going to make much power via natural aspiration on that small engine. so you would have to go FI (turbo/supercharger)...that will cost you as much as the car.

go with a mustang...they have insane aftermarket support making aftermarket mods cheaper.

Honda's are great cars to tune. There are TONS of aftermarket parts available for Honda, and the VTEC engines can really produce a lot of power for their displacement. Plus, no Mustang on the planet is capable of delivering the reliablity of a Honda. SO, if you want to wrench on your car all the time because it's a shit heap, get a Ford or Chevy. If you to want to work on your car for enjoyment, get a Honda. Or a Toyota. Or Nissan.

1. VTEC doesn't do much. Look up how it works.
2. As soon as you change parts on the car for performance, don't worry about reliability. Reliability depends on how well you install your parts, and how you treat your car.

The only thing we have to do in life is live. Everyday is a brand new day with new things to see and experience.

I kinda understand how some people can sit at home all day and do work around the house, clean stuff up, but for what? Some people that could possibly show up, or maybe some family. Why do we care enough to try and impress them? Friends and family shouldn't care until your place is a total wreck.

I can't do stuff like that. I gotta go out and experience the day. A different piece of history is made each day, not just in our lives but the whole world. You only get to experience that day one time in your life, so why not make the best of it? Forget what bills you gotta pay next week, or how much those bills took last week. Go out and have a good time, go play in nature or something. Go for a joyride in the nice car, go ride the 4-wheeler, or go muddin in your truck. Just get out there and make everyday fun and make everyday count!

Where as society allow multiple chances to do things, in reality all we have is that one chance to make it all awesome...

Show me a list of aftermarket parts (N/A) for a Honda that will make a lot of power as you say.

If you go the honda route, get something with a B18 or K-series motor, they are really your best options for tuning. I'm looking to get either a FA5 07-08 or a 2001 Integra GSR. Can't beat japanese reliability, and the parts are cheap as hell if it actually break down.

If you want a reliable DD don't modify what ever you get. If you want a strait line car get something light with a V8 (foxbody shitstang). It you want something that can pull a corner and keep traction avoid the mustang like the plague.

For 4 grand you can get a stock civi, and leave it alone until you have another 4 grant to throw at it. Or get a FB mustang and try to keep it going. They are really a heap of shit only good for drag cars.

There really isnt any unless you want to start digging into the motor.. Once you start getting into turbo or superchargers though things can get fun. As for Ford being unreliable and breaking down, I gotta disagree with that. Hell I dont even like Chevy's and I have to disagree with that. From first hand experience I can say Fords are bullet proof, as are some Chevy's.

For 4K you could probably pick up a fox cheap, get the motor where it makes good power, and then sink the rest into your suspension work. All cars can handle. All cars can go fast in a straight line.

Sooo, spend 4K on a mustang that handles and makes good power? Or spend 8K on a civic that's still slower the the 4K mustang.....

The only real big deciding factor between these two cars IMO.... is gas mileage. Everyone can throw money at tneir car and make it faster and corner better, but can you afford the gas to take it out all the time?

Just keep in mind you will never really push a more noticeable amount of power with bolt ons. They are just marketing gimmicks put on by auto part manufacturers to take advantage of the new "ricer crowd" and do absolutely nothing on paper!

You have to venture into internal engine components and/or forced introduction to get more power.
